I'm currently self isolating watching the chase and thought it would be fun to do a AMA if anyone's interested!

Were your teammates nice?

Ah I LOVE Bradley Walsh. He's the guy you'd want at the table every Christmas! A National Treasure, imo.

What, so the unused chasers just sit around for most of the day?

Silly question but do you have to do your own makeup? I always wonder with quiz contestants!

So you come with make up on then they top you up before you go on and during the breaks when the runner comes over with some water for you.

5 outfits is so many but it's so you wear something appropriate and that dosent clash with other contestants

@TheVanguardSix I really wanted Paul as I think he's lovely but I was happy with Jenny! I really didn't want the beast or Anne as I feel like you couldn't really have a laugh with them

I was so excited to meet them and actually the men were horrible. Really really patronising. The woman was lovely and we got on really well. I actually told the first guy to go for the higher offer because I didn't like him and didn't want him to play anymore 😂

@merlotormalbec - I had the Beast and he was actually pretty funny off camera

I had the Beast too and same with him being different off camera. The whole thing we had with Bradley's jokes, he was roaring with laughter the whole time. That's maybe why it was all cut out, wouldn't have looked like his on screen character at all.

That's such a shame you had that in your team. Mine were all lovely and I spoke to some of them on social media later, but that was all years ago now so haven't been in contact more recently. I don't blame you for saying what you did, I think I'd have done the same if someone had been like that.

I'm another ex-Chase contestant. Loved being on the show. Bradley was fab.

Why go for the lower offer if you weren't bothered about making the final chase? I would have gone for the higher offer and gone out with a bang!

Have you appeared on any other quiz shows? If so, how did they compare to The Chase? If not, would you like to do any others in future?

And what was your terrible answer that made the blooper reel?

I applied specifically for the chase. I was very proud of myself for getting on because it's a really tough process. I watch it all the time so just decided to apply online, then you get a phone call which is an audition and then they do a quick fire quiz then if they like you they invite you for an interview at ITV studios and you just all have a chat there's about 10 of us then we have an interview and a quiz then they let some people go then you play a mini game of it then they let more people go and then there's a few of you left and you're through! Then you have another couple of phone calls. It's quite time consuming! They say from applying to your show being aired it takes around 2 years and that's what happened to all of my team mates but I applied in March, filmed in July and was aired in November so very quick!

@Untangled87 I think I just panicked tbh! Haven't been on any others but I do want to apply for family fortunes 😂

Love this thread. Glad to hear Bradley is lovely in real life as he seems on TV. The audition process stressed me out just reading about it! Would love to know what episode you was on 🙂

Auditions have changed a good bit since I was on as well. This is really interesting to see how things have changed.

I applied online then got an email inviting me to audition shortly afterwards. It wasn't a full day but a good few hours in the session. We had different quizzes and team trivia games to play and they filmed us during it too, we also had a personal questionnaire to fill in as they told us it's not always the cleverest people they choose but they like the interesting ones too. I also have a feeling they were watching us even between the rounds to see how we interacted with each other.

At the end of the audition they told us how many people were through and named them. They only picked a couple from each audition normally but there were 4 at mine. Three were all guys who had been very chatty but answered a good few questions so were a good mix and I was surprised to be the fourth one. Even then we were told it wasn't a given that we would end up on the show, it was only a shortlist. Out of the 4 picked I've only seen one other appear on the show and he was many months after me and he was the one with one of the most interesting personal stories.

It was only a month after I auditioned that I got an email asking to come down to London. They'd originally asked me on a date I couldn't do so they worked it out for the next day which maybe worked in my favour as I had a great team and we all won too. There was someone else in my team who has been on a few different quizzes since and one or two before and he'd been waiting around 6 months to get on so seemed shocked when I was asked down just a month after my audition.

The reactions of if you've said something rude about a chaser or if you're disappointed in the one you get must make better TV for them I guess?

I bloody love that show. My brother auditioned a few years ago and didn't get through, he's a good quizzer but he wasn't interesting enough - no funny personal stories to tell.

Enjoying this thread, so pleased to read that Bradley is lovely - he seems to be and it's nice to get confirmation instead of horror stories.
