I spend the majority of the year in other peoples homes caring for their pets. Sometimes, though not often, I housesit in homes without pets!

Any questions?

Does the responsibility not scare you?? I.e. having to lock up someone's home properly when leaving, dealing with the possibility of losing a dog / having a dog hit by a car while out on a walk, the dog eating something poisonous in your care, or a dog running out the front door when you arrive or leave...

Maybe I'm just a big fat worrier 😳 I have two dogs and these are the main fears that would prevent me from having a sitter. But I also live in London where there is less room for "error" if you like when it comes to incidents like those I listed (e.g. more traffic / busier roads and walk routes here, more burglars, people actually do put poison out on the streets for dogs to eat...)

I've used a company called Trusted House Sitters a few times. Very successful and suits all parties, including my beloved dogs. It works brilliantly for me.

What's been your best/worse house sit?

Do any homeowners have sloppy cleaning standards? What about any interesting hobbies they may have?
