I have no idea if this will be of any interest to anybody.

My husband, myself and our three daughters (plus one on the way) live in the grounds of, and run a boarding kennels, cattery and small pet hotel [rabbits and guinea pigs mainly].

AMA??

We took the dog in and she stayed for 3 years until she went to join her owner

I think I’ve got something in my eye. What a lovely thing to do.

If it's not too nosy do you make much of a living from it? I used to work at a cattery many years ago and the owner only managed to make a profit by employing school children. Do you maintain the runs yourself or do you hire people to do the fixing, building, etc? Are you affected much by so many people now doing pet sitting from home? Love that you do small furries as well, we have a mix of pets.

Have you ever told an owner that their pet can't return?

Thanks OP I used to work in boarding kennels this is reminding me of some mad stories a huge man with a King Charles spaniel that got fed m&s chicken in wine sauce and beef in gravy, special k for breakfast and apricots and milky ways as snacks! The cats were usually fine but it was always the cat owners that cried leaving! We had one man who never returned for his lovely sweet dog we sent letters recorded delivery etc which got signed for but in the end we rehomed the dog to someone who called to tell us their dog had died and wouldn't be coming back.

Where are u based and do you need more staff?

Doobigetta · 18/02/2020 22:54

Do you tell every cat owner that their cat is your favourite?

Money aside, would you recommend a trial run for a night in a dog kennel? I have 2 dogs & one is rather quite nervous about new places. Considering putting them in a kennel when we get married if I can’t find anyone to dog sit at my house.

Where are you and how do we book in with you?
