It's there really not a Woolwich any more?
I left a pound in a joint account with an old boyfriend when we split up, the computers were down and we couldn't close it properly.
I have nightmares of him tracking me down so we can close it and split the difference.
It was 27 years ago and he's a millionaire now. But it could happen. That's how people make their millions.

I work for a building society.

To all those people with dormant accounts - you're money will still be there. They put dormant accounts into a holding account after a while, but it will still be accruing interest and you'll be able to get it out if you ask.

I recently closed a dormant account with Halifax (not where I work) after I found a passbook I hadn't used for 30 years. My £2000ish had turned into £4000ish.
