I had an unexpected home birth - AMA

DD (now 2) arrived very quickly - so fast that there wasn't time to get to hospital, and she ended up being born on the bathroom floor.

When I mention this, people are usually quite interested, and ask all sorts of things, so I thought I'd do an AMA! I know it's also something that a lot of pregnant women worry about, so maybe I can answer some of the questions that I had before it happened!

DD is my second child; DS was first, and he was born 4 weeks premature but with a normal enough labour and birth (about 14 hours from waters breaking until he arrived). DD was 5 weeks premature. Everyone was completely fine in the end.

Was it an unattended birth? Or did the paramedics or midwife get to you?

My second was also born in the bathroom. The paramedics made it for the delivery (just- I reckon they arrived 30s before the baby)

No, just DH and I - and he was on the phone to the ambulance people, so I was on my own in the room until the very end, when he came sprinting in!

Ambulance arrived a couple of minutes later.
