as the paramedic later told me. I had anaphylaxis brought on by a nut allergy and fortunately the hospital was just up the road.

I'm confused - did you have an asthma attack or anaphylaxis? Or both?
You're both unlucky and lucky.

What I only leanred recently is that you can have another anaphylactic shock called biphasic and it can be less equal or even more severe than the first

Both together must have been terrifying, on their own they are bad enough. Thank goodness somebody was with you.

It happened when I was 19. I was leaving one job to go to another...food industry and had just tried the chef's meal he had been trying out, I didnt knwo it contained nuts. By the time I had walked 5 mins to the other restaurant I was wheezing. I got changed and then it just started to take over. I thought I was just a bit wheezy so took my inhaler but it didnt work repeated several times then I started to choke a bit and feel my throat tighten. It just got worse and the inhaler didnt do anything. I shouted to them to call an ambulance and went outside. i watched my hands turning blue as I could hardly breathe. My last view was of the ambulance arriving and a paramedic putting their hand on me saying I would be ok. Then half an hour later I woke up in hospital, saw some doctors and machines, blacked out again, then came round a bit later. They told me I had been very lucky I had been so close to the hospital. As I wrote the paramedic said I was about 1 min from being a goner. Didnt see any lights or OBE. it was as scary as hell though. luckily I have been v vigilant since and havent had another attack.
