I did too. Did you think it hurt more than giving birth to a head first baby?

Did you know the baby was breech when you went into labour? (I don't know if that is a silly question)

Were medics supportive of your choice?

I didn't sachabloom I found out when I arrived at the hospital fully dilated.

Bum first or feet first?

Sprogs yes I think it did actually compared to my second who wasn't breech

How old was your midwife and had s/he delivered a breech baby before?

Yes I did too compared to my other 3, but she was 9lb and the others were 7lb so wasn't sure if that was the difference.

sachabloom yes I did. Csection was suggested but I went into labour early and I didn't want a C-section. My baby was small and a footling breech.

I can't really remember re midwives. There were a lot of people coming in, the consultant was present etc.

It was standing room only with mine, I think all the midwives, doctors and hcas in the building came to watch

How long were you in labour? I had an emergency c-section when they realised he was breech at 9cm dilated. They gave me the option to continue but after 36 hours I was knackered. The consultant who did the op said she thought it was a good call when we spoke after. I did too, but I feared instrumented delivery more than c section. He was long and 9lb 13oz so I think I might have struggled. Did the team freak out? My midwife was gutted to have missed he was breech, but so did everyone else who saw me so meh.

It was a relatively quick birth. Started getting pains about 2am, born at 7.30. 3 weeks early.

I didn't get much time to think about it but just went with my body and asked if I could try vaginal. Was 7cm dilated when they measured me at the hospital.

I wonder if he hadn’t been my first whether I would have continued. After 36 hours of stop start though I think my gut said nah mate ;). mine was frank (extended?) breech and 2 days early. Were you not keen on c section or just felt capable of attempting vaginal delivery?

reetgood I felt capable. I was scared but I asked for an epidural. I figured that if a C-section was needed in the end I would obviously have gone with it but I didn't want to if I didn't have to. The thought really frightened me.

More so than giving birth breech

I have given birth to a breech baby. The labour was very straightforward. I ask my midwife to step back, and she did. It was her first breech.

Obviously these were first babes by the sounds of it, did you guys tear lots or have to have a managed delivery? Forceps etc.
Did you also tear for your next births?
