As title says.

He's 24, his journey has been a long one and continues.

Thank you for explaining more. I know of a teenager who is awaiting an assessment for possible autism. His mother is schizophrenic. I suspect there’s more to his behaviours than ‘just’ autism but not my place to get involved or say anything.

I hope your son gets on ok. Must be really tough for you all. Flowers

Thank you Flowers

I think it's amazing that you support him so much. So many parents give up on DC with issues. You're a total star.

My younger son has the same diagnosis. He is now 37 and is recovering from a bad accident that seems to have prodded him to cooperate with medical care and not do the illegal drugs and alcohol. He is the best I have ever seen him! So there is hope, always; but I have spent over 20 years enduring ups and downs, often with no love returned. By now I have a circle of friends with mentally disabled kids, and we support each other. No one else seems to understand.

Is there a part of MN for this? Or we could start our own thread? I was lucky I got a few hours sleep tonight. I've found it's a bit like having a young baby, so sleep when they're sleeping, kind of thing. It's draining.

Tomorrow I'm going to speak to the GP & see what we can do meds wise. Hoping for a positive outcome.
