As the title says really - I spent my early relationship/married life worrying I was too common, but now I don't give a crap.

This might not be interesting at all, but I'm home alone tonight so AMA!

@Pickled He doesn't sound like the ones I knew, in terms of his school career and values. One of them had been Head Boy and was briefly a bit of a minor celebrity, having been involved in a newspaper story (not a compromising one) in the society pages just before we all went up. He was the leader of the social set that comprised (inter alia) everyone who was in my subject group that year apart from me. The number one rule of this exclusive clique seemed to be that you didn't speak to outsiders, so you can imagine how I felt. Actually there was one a few years below me who did fraternise a bit with the proles - he was a minor royal and he snogged a working class girl in my year! :) I guess he didn't have anything to prove socially, so no reason to be aloof.

Your relationship sounds brilliant and your DH sounds really nice. God knows it isn't easy to bridge the social divide(s) in this country, it's nice to hear about it when it happens. How old are you btw? I'm 41, and maybe universities are more diverse now and Old Etonians less likely to reach for the smelling salts when they see a working class person there!
