Did you resent being dressed the same when young, and being expected to be each other's best friends?

I have a friend with twins (age 5) who dresses them identically, and I always feel sorry for them, it's as though they're not allowed to have independent personalities.

What do you like most about being a twin? And what do you like least? What advice would you give to a parent of twins?

I have 4 year old identical twins and constantly worry about not giving them enough one on one time. I also want them to be happy that they are twins.

eggys no I don't resent it because As soon as we were old enough to choose our own clothes my mum let us so after about the age of eight we were never dressed the same and we had totally different styles. I was very girly my sister was a tomboy so although we looked alike you could tell who was who straight away.

twice I like the fact we have grown up and gone through everything together. I like the fact I know she is always there and she's like my right arm we've always had each other. What I don't like is always being known as the twins but that used to bother me more than it does now. We are totally different people yet are always lumped together like we are just one person.

I can imagine that would have been annoying. I’m constantly amazed at complete strangers reactions to my girls, from comments to actualy taking photos of them!

My girls are very close, but quite different from each other too. They are definitely treated as separate people by me and my family. But most people still cannot tell them apart (they look completely different to me though Grin )

One of my daughters got upset recently saying she had no friends because no one knew who she was (that was heartbreaking). It was really hard for her to understand why. I really hope they don’t resent being twins as they get older.

I know I'm very late to the thread but do you get hurt/offended if your sister comments negatively on her own appearance (as its identical to yours)?
