Been full time for 10 years, have appeared on TV shows and radio as well as training new therapists. I've worked with all kinds of issues and feel fairly unshockable these days!

Thanks felonia!
Where would I find a good therapist in North East England?

felonia · 13/07/2018 09:09

@Whitegrenache have a look at www.hypnotherapy-directory.org.uk where you can search by location and you'll know therapists have reached a certain standard of training (plus insurance etc)

I have had very low self esteem, low self confidence, social anxiety since childhood including symptoms of of complex ptsd.

If I went on a hypnotherapist would all these issues be tackled in one go, as alot of it overlaps etc or would I need to look at each issue separately.

Also, realistically, what can I expect in terms of the change I see in myself?

Can psychopaths be hypnotized?

PetersAvawag · 24/06/2021 17:54

I have noticed that people who want to become hypnotherapists will have an interest in alternative medicine as well as being able to work well with clients and people who want to work on changing their behavior. As I see it, the best option for people who want to become hypnotherapists is to get a master's degree in psychology, which also includes training in hypnotherapy, or take a certification program in addition to attending graduate school. Hypnotherapists, on the other hand, can also become a practitioner or counselor and then attend seminars and classes dedicated to the study of hypnosis as a way to offer their clients comprehensive services www.becomeopedia.com/hypnotherapist/

Is there anyone/any particular condition that means that hypnotherapy would be harmful/contraindicated?

TheHuntingoftheSnark · 25/06/2021 00:24

Does hypnotherapy work through zoom?

Hi, not the OP but I am studying to be a hypno-psychotherapist, we've been advised that individuals presenting with uncontrolled epilepsy, psychosis or personality disorders are not suitable for hypnosis, nor are those under the influence of narcotics or alcohol

I left my abusive xh when my children were little. The eldest has been the most affected. I am certain he has cptsd. How old would he have to be before your treatment would be suitable for him?

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 14/08/2021 12:19

@MarthasGinYard

Op

Have you ever hypnotised folk to eat cooking onions like apples?

I saw this on stage as a child and never quite got over itGrin

I’ve seen this done without hypnosis. At school we were learning about the digestive system and role of smell in taste. The teacher blindfolded a boy and clamped his nose and gave him a piece of raw onion to eat and the boy said it was delicious!

No hypnosis, just no smell of onion.

How old is your DC? There are child psychologists with an additional hypnotherapy qualification who would be appropriate. "Standard" hypnotherapy courses and therapists deal with 18yo +

How do you carry out the emdr? Is that before or after Hypnotherapy?

coodawoodashooda · 14/08/2021 17:02

9 years old. Who do i ask to see? Via the gp?

montysma1 · 10/10/2021 10:28

In my opinion the world is full of hypnotherapists who either know perfectly well that this doesn't work or who may think it does because people are too polite (or embarrassed at bring fleeced) to say , "Actually No, This didn't make a blind bit of difference to me and I wasn't hypnotised anyway".
I have tried 4 different hypnotists for 2 different things.
In every case I was not hypnotised, unless thinking "Oh this is bollox" is standard trance behavior. My issues remained exactly the same after every session. My bank account didn't.
