I was in a closed prison for 2 months then 4 months in an open prison. It was 5 years ago for a 'white collar' crime.

I know a lot of my friends irl always had lots of questions so wondered if you lot had the same?!

How old were your kids when you went to jail?

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 10/07/2018 21:04

Sorry 😐 mean how old were you when you were committing the crime and how long did you do it for? What possessed you to do it in the first place? I mean, did someone recruit you?

NameChanger1987 · 10/07/2018 21:04

Notjust I’m 29.

Did you have your own tv in the cell? Were you allowed any makeup etc?

NameChanger1987 · 10/07/2018 21:09

NotSuch I was 20/21 then 24 when sentenced.

kaytee They were 4 and 7 months.

Were you persuaded to do it by an older man? A boyfriend?

iheartfriday · 10/07/2018 21:12

Wow that's really young to think that up and know that much about mortgages etc! How did you get into it? Did you know it was properly illegal or just a bit dodgy?! What happened to the people in the houses?

NameChanger1987 · 10/07/2018 21:13

frosty in closed I had nothing and they gave you their clothes. Visiting in clothes they also gave different clothes. In open yes to make up and your own knife and fork, own clothes apart from when working had to wear a special top presumably so if you escape you’re easily spotted!

What job do you do now?

GenericHamster · 10/07/2018 21:14

So in other words you gave them way lower than market value for their houses but they did get to stay in them which wouldn't happen with most sales. Did they know (sorry to be blunt) you were ripping them off?

Is there anything you miss from prison?

NameChanger1987 · 10/07/2018 21:15

I was a mortgage advisor. I can’t reallt say to much but I knew some people who did it on a larger scale so thought a little one would slip by. Really stupid and greedy. The people kept them, in fact last year one of the tenants asked to see me and told me that I’m an idiot but not evil and hoped I’d learnt my lesson. I have.

OP posts:
NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 10/07/2018 21:19

Were you a qualified mortgage adviser? Have you been stripped of your professional membership?

NameChanger1987 · 10/07/2018 21:20

hamster Yes they knew it was well below market value but sold as the fact they would get to stay until they no longer wanted to/could. I miss nothing!

desperately I’m still a partner in that company but it just manages properties now and I don’t do the day to day. I work doing something completely different.

OP posts:
NameChanger1987 · 10/07/2018 21:21

notsuch I haven’t heard anything but I haven’t tried to arrange one since then. I’m not touching mortgages ever again!

TaggieRR · 10/07/2018 21:26

For how long will you affected by the POCA?

MyNameIsNotSteven · 10/07/2018 21:26

Do you take the view that you were made an example of? This sounds like unethical practice rather than a heinous crime.

Really I know a man who is doing all sorts to defraud his ex-wife and simply won't comply with the court. But he is not in finance.

Parsley1234 · 10/07/2018 21:27

Sounds like the judge was right banks got their money tenants kept their homes and you made a living - you were unlucky

stellenbosch · 10/07/2018 21:31

Was it like OiTNB? Did you consider a lesbian relationship to make your life easier??? 🤔

We're any of the guards male/hot?

What was pooing/menstruating like?

NameChanger1987 · 10/07/2018 21:32

Until it’s paid. I think in around 4 or 5 years.

Did any of your friends/family know what you were doing at the time? How did your friends react when they found out?

stellenbosch · 10/07/2018 21:34

Did they also have FUCKING auto correct to make your spelling shit?! Lol

GlitteryFluff · 10/07/2018 21:37

No Q's from me but thank you for starting this thread. Very insightful.

iheartfriday · 10/07/2018 21:46

Yes thank you. Really interesting. I appreciate how open you are being. Was the crime against the mortgage company? Even though you may have misled them about how much you paid, you would still have to pay them back what you borrowed though? So you would have the surplus now but have to pay them back eventually? Or was the crime against the person whose house you bought cheaply? Even though they agreed? I feel like I'm missing who the victim is....

iheartfriday · 10/07/2018 21:51

It seems such a harsh sentence for a mum with such young children. Did they ask about your circumstances in terms of who would look after them before giving you your sentence?
