I run a nursing agency-ask me anything

Ex-nhs, now I help to run a nursing agency supplying staff to the nhs. Every time I open up a newspaper I see articles saying that agencies are sucking the life out of the nhs, that we cost billions, and that there are plans to get rid of us.

We work extremely hard, we do not charge a lot and we are good at what we do, but I am aware that public opinion is not in our favour.

OK...

Did you know there is an ‘Ask me anything’ topic board now?

I’m at the point of handing my notice in on my permanent NHS post with a view to doing bank shifts and agency. I plan on joining a few agencies as I’ve heard this can fluctuate. I’ve been doing community for 4 years and ED for 5 years before that. It’s been a long time since I’ve been on the wards! I’m hoping to float around on my local bank in a few wards to build up experience then do wards on agency too if they’ll have me. Do I need to sort out my IV training? There’s no dates in my trust at the moment, I could search around and pay privately? Thanks

Hi there,

I want to start a nursing agency and need help on how to get nhs contracts. Any advice would be extremely helpful.
