The iCandy Peach Blossom Twin is perfectly designed to accommodate a growing family, be that newborn twins or a baby and an older sibling. It is one of the most expensive we tested, but, for those who can afford it, the iCandy definitely deserves its hype. This tandem buggy is hyper-flexible in its ability to convert itself from parent- to forward-facing, or indeed one of each, featuring carrycots for infants and seats for older babies and toddlers.
You can also attach an infant car seat (or two), making this a double travel system. The carrycots (suitable up to around six months old) are approved for overnight sleeping, which is particularly handy if you’re spending a night at the grandparents’ or jetting off on your baby’s first holiday. If you’re happy to use the carrycot as a Moses basket, you may also save a few bob there.
The Peach Blossom Twin boasts an easy fold and an independent stand, and its innovative design allows parents to switch easily between forward- and parent-facing, or one of each. Sleek, streamlined and able to navigate the narrowest of aisles, the iCandy Peach Blossom Twin stood up to extensive testing on buses, trains and round the shops, proving ideal for an urban lifestyle.
The locking mechanism on this double buggy is smooth and straightforward, and it’s easy to swap out carrycots for car seats or buggy seats when out and about. It can transition to a single pushchair with ease by disconnecting the bottom seat, and folds down quickly to store in the back of the car. What’s more, the four-position adjustable handle makes it comfortable to push, regardless of your height.
The one-in-front-of-the-other tandem design makes the iCandy Peach Blossom Twin narrow for a double, allowing it to navigate seamlessly through bus aisles, shop doorways and crowds. This makes it ideal for a family who use public transport frequently, although its easy fold also makes it suitable for the car (just be sure to measure your car boot before you buy, taking two carrycots and/or seats into consideration! Even the seats will need to be taken off before the buggy can be folded). Our tester especially loved the freestanding chassis which can be stood next to the front door, ready to unfold and go at a moment's notice.
The Peach Blossom Twin passed our ‘topple test’ easily with both babies and toddlers in the buggy. The storage basket size was adequate, and converting this buggy from single to double mode did not affect the storage capacity. The wheels are made from PVC, which, while supposedly not as smooth as air-filled tyres, we didn’t have any problems with, and none of our little passengers complained. What’s more, there’s no danger of punctures.
The iCandy Peach Blossom Twin comes in a variety of colours with a selection of neutral options (Moonlight, Butterscotch, Olive), a safe black, and the more exciting Claret and Bubblegum. It looks sleek, streamlined and expensive – as indeed it is. Whilst the iCandy Peach Blossom Twin was certainly the most costly of the double buggies reviewed, totalling £1,360, we felt that the experience justified the investment. It comes with a variety of accessories including two carrycots, the upper and lower seat units, and a carrycot handle for easy transportation. Not only that, but the maximum user weight of 25 kg means this double buggy really does last until the need for a pram in any family combination is naturally outgrown.
