Designed in collaboration with a physiotherapist and outdoor product experts, the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier stands out as a well-thought-out baby carrier backpack for active families. Ergonomics are clearly a priority, with features that support both children and parents over longer walks. Mum-of-two Kelsey, who tested the carrier over many miles, described it as “ideal for a family like ours who enjoys the outdoors,” highlighting the blend of comfort, adjustability, and practicality.

She praised the breathable back panel, padded shoulder straps, and the ability to fine-tune the fit using the QuickFit® system, noting: “I really enjoyed the design of the carrier and how it felt on my back... our little girl was very comfortable in it and even when she fell asleep, was well supported and in a safe position.” Using a few intuitive pull tabs and buckles, the QuickFit® system allows users to adjust the shoulder height, back length, and waist fit so the carrier feels secure and evenly distributes a child's weight.

Storage also earned points, with handy compartments including an insulated pouch - “useful in keeping some food and drinks cool for our walk.” Although the carrier felt slightly bulky on her smaller frame, Kelsey still found it lightweight and easy to carry overall. With a removable, washable child section and suitability for kids from six months up to four years (or 18kg), the Babymoov Moov & Hike delivers a solid combination of comfort, durability, and thoughtful design.

How we tested the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier

  • Tested over four hikes with family and friends ranging between 1-2.5 hours in length

  • Used to carry Kelsey’s eight-month-old daughter who weighed 10kg at the time of testing

  • Hikes with the Babymoov Moov & Hike involved uphill inclines and descents, climbing up and over rockfaces/fences and obstacles as well as normal footpaths

  • The carrier backpack was kept in the car boot when not in use

During testing, Kelsey scored the baby carrier on eight key criteria including: performance, quality and durability, ease of use, value for money, safety, ergonomic support, comfort and adjustability.

How easy is the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier to assemble?

Straight out of the box, the Babymoov Moov & Hike is relatively straightforward to set up. The QuickFit® adjustment system lives up to its name - it's intuitive to use and makes switching between wearers easy, accommodating body types from XS to XXL. As Kelsey noted, “It took some fiddling before I found the right position for myself, but once adjusted properly, it was barely noticeable that I was even wearing a carrier.”

The carrier's weight distribution is well thought out, with padded shoulder straps and a supportive waistband helping to spread the load evenly across the body. The built-in PopStand is also simple to open and close, making it easy to place the carrier down securely when not in use. Small but useful details like the clip-on sunshade that folds neatly into its own pocket add to the overall convenience. While Kelsey didn’t make use of all the accessories, such as the water bladder compartment or pacifier hooks, it's clear that a lot of care has gone into making the design practical and parent friendly.

How does the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier look?

The Babymoov Moov & Hike in Sage Green (the only colour available) has a clean, earthy look that’s both stylish and practical and is especially good at disguising the dust and dirt that comes with outdoor adventures.

Comfort seems to be a top priority in the design. As Kelsey puts it: “My daughter always seemed supported on hikes, with the padded headrest and footrest keeping her in a good position. She often nodded off mid-walk, which is always a good sign! From my point of view, I found it surprisingly comfy, even on longer outings. The breathable back panel and padded shoulder straps helps to distribute my daughter's weight well, and during testing it was easy to tweak the fit using the QuickFit® system.”

Kelsey also rated the PopStand® feature, which allows the carrier to stand upright when not in use, helpful when loading the carrier or taking a break. There’s plenty of built-in storage too, including a roomy 10L compartment with an insulated pocket and extras like a sunshade and pacifier clip. Made with recycled, GRS-certified materials, it’s also a more sustainable pick for families.

Is the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier safe and sturdy?

Yes, it feels solid and reliable. The lightweight frame holds its shape well, even with a growing child and provides good support across uneven terrain. The PopStand® makes it easier to set the carrier down securely without it toppling over.

As Kelsey put it, “All the key components, from the harness to the base, feel well made and durable. Nothing felt flimsy during testing, which gave a lot of reassurance on longer walks and more technical hikes.” It’s clearly designed to stand up to regular use, especially for families who spend a lot of time outdoors.

What’s the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier like to use day-to-day?

Although primarily designed for hiking, the Babymoov Moov & Hike works well for everyday activities too. Kelsey says, “We’ve mostly used it on hikes, but I can see it fitting into daily life easily. Despite its sturdy frame, it’s fairly lightweight at 3.6 kg, so it’s manageable for shorter trips like walks to the park, nursery runs, or quick errands.” Switching between caregivers is simple thanks to the QuickFit® adjustment system and the breathable padding keeps things comfortable during extended wear.

The carrier’s built-in storage is another plus for day-to-day use. Its spacious 10L compartment includes an insulated section to keep snacks or bottles at the right temperature. There’s also a hydration bladder compartment, handy for longer walks or hikes, and a padded head cushion that provides extra comfort and support for children, especially during naps. While bulkier than softer baby carriers, its combination of functionality and storage makes it a practical option for everyday use.

How comfortable is the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier?

Comfort is a strong point for the Babymoov Moov & Hike, for both parents and children. The ergonomic seat supports proper hip positioning with added padding, a headrest and a footrest, helping little ones stay comfortable during longer outings. As Kelsey noted, “My daughter found it easy to nap while seated and stayed in a good position the whole time.”

For parents, this carrier stands out for its effective weight distribution. The padded shoulder straps, breathable back panel and supportive waistband help reduce strain on the back and shoulders, even over extended use. It’s also easy to adjust for a secure, comfortable fit across different body types. This contrasts with some other baby carrier backpacks on the market, which often get poor reviews for being bulky and uncomfortable especially on longer walks.

Components of the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier

Does the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier fold down?

While it doesn’t fold completely flat like some softer baby carriers, it does become much more compact and easier to manage. It fits comfortably in a car boot or can be stored in a hallway or cupboard without taking up too much space. Thanks to the integrated PopStand® system, the support foot easily retracts, allowing the carrier to flatten more when not in use.

Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier: Are there any added extras?

The Babymoov Moov & Hike includes a few thoughtful extras:

  • A UV-resistant sunshade that provides ample protection from the sun and light rain. It’s water-repellent and easy to detach when not needed.

  • A pacifier clip designed to keep pacifiers close at hand and off the ground though Kelsey didn’t end up using this feature during testing.

Is the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier easy to clean?

Yes, the Babymoov Moov & Hike is relatively straightforward to clean. Several components, including the head cushion, pacifier clip and the 10L storage bag, can be removed and machine washed at 30°C. The child seat section is hand washable, allowing for thorough cleaning of areas that are most likely to get dirty.

As you'd expect from a baby carrier backpack, the materials are also durable and breathable, which helps with both comfort and maintenance.

Is the Babymoov Moov & Hike Baby Carrier good value for money?

Yes, it offers good value considering how durable it is. The carrier is well made, with a comfortable ergonomic design that really helps on longer walks. It also has plenty of storage, which is handy for day-to-day use. As Kelsey puts it, “The lifetime warranty is fantastic—it really shows the brand stands behind what they make.” While it’s a bit pricier than some other options like the LittleLife Ranger S2, the quality and features make it worth considering for families who want something durable and practical.
