For a limited time, Interrail is offering a 25% discount on all Global Passes with adult prices starting from €213 (was €283) for access to over 30,000 destinations in 33 countries. The best bit for families? Up to two children aged 11 and under can travel for FREE per adult when riding together. PLUS passes allow you to travel from the UK by Eurostar*.

As an added incentive, Interrail is donating €5 to The Intrepid Foundation - a charity that supports sustainability initiatives across Europe - for every pass sold.

Both flexi passes and continuous passes are included in the deal and you can book first class or second class tickets. A flexi pass gives you unlimited travel on set days within a one- or two-month period - great if you want to explore at a leisurely pace and base yourself in destinations for a few days at a time. A continuous pass allows you to travel on as many trains as you want on consecutive days - a better option for a fast-paced trip with a view to explore lots of different places in one go.

A few things to note when booking an Interrail Global Pass

  • You can only travel with an Interrail pass if you live in Europe

  • Passes can be used up to 11 months after purchase

  • Passes can be used on national railways, some private railways and select buses and ferries. See the full list here

  • Consider a first class ticket for extra space and access to food and drink (depending on the rail provider)

  • The Global Pass allows you to take two journeys in your own country (one outbound and one return)

  • You'll need to make and pay for seat reservations on most high-speed trains and all night trains in Europe, including Eurostar

  • You're eligible for a 100% refund within 7 days if you change your mind

What is Interrailing?

Interrailing is a great way to travel across Europe by train. An Interrail pass allows you to travel between 33 different countries using a wide variety of rail networks including national railways and some private operators. If you're planning to cover a lot of ground in one trip, buying an Interrail pass is often cheaper and easier than booking separate tickets. Although it's a popular way for students to travel, passes are available for everyone and there are discounted tickets on offer for seniors (60+) as well as free tickets for children under 12.

One thing which doesn't seem to be widely publicised, but is great value for money for Cornwall-based interrailers, is that you can use your pass to travel across the UK at the start/end of your trip. Does an Interrail pass include Eurostar?

Yes, although there's a caveat. *Your Interrail pass is valid on Eurostar services but you'll need to book a seat reservation to be able to travel. A Eurostar seat reservation currently costs €30 per passenger and seats need to be booked up to six months in advance. Seat reservation fees apply to most high-speed trains and all night trains in Europe and prices vary between €3 and €45 per passenger.
