As an absolute minimum they should return her subscription fees and issue a public apology to her. Shame on you RCN. I do hope all current Members of the RCN will consider their decision to remain as a Member.

I'd like to see them fined enough to pay all the legal fees she's been saddled with up to now because they refused to support their member in the way they should have.
They should have taken management to task for not following the Workplace, Health, Safety and Welfare Regs about providing single sex changing facilities for it's female staff. It should have been a win for the unions, that's what their job is to make sure management follow the law.

I hope she wins, the unions have a lot of power courtesy of their membership, they have a responsibility to use it to support their membership, they don't have the right to abuse that power and do anything they want with it.

At a time when we know about the prevalence of sexual assault in medical settings, it’s pretty depressing as a female patient that the nursing union primarily representing women supports forcing female nurses to undress in front of males.

Good to see this. The comment describing the RCN as the Royal College of Numpties seemed most accurate.

All the unions reserve the right to refuse to support members who are accused of racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia. People pay their dues and then find they can't get support. It is bizarre. What happened to giving everyone a fair shot at justice, regsrfless of whst you think of them? And of course what they describe as transphobia is simply ordinary gender critical views.

I think it's good that RCN will justify their actions in court. Let them tell us all in plain language why they think female nurses should be sharing changing rooms with males. The same female nurses that are the majority of their members.

Having observed my own small union and the much larger staff network groups, I am firmly of the opinion that there is a disproportionate amount of power held by the LGBT+ contingent than other disadvantaged groups.

In my experience, the LGBT+ groups are lively and sociable and also act as a ready made dating pool for fellow employees/ members. Far more so than disability or race groups. As such they are attractive to join and become disproportionately large in comparison to the workforce/ membership and therefore hold power and influence policy and decision making much more than other groups.

It’s a key tenet of natural justice that we don’t deny human rights to any human being because they’ve said something we don’t like or because we disagree with their opinions.
Employers can’t force women to undress in front of men because they don’t like these women.

She's a racist who ruined another woman's life, causing her to emigrate she received so much harassment. Even though that woman caused her no harm at all. The money she's extracted from the NHS for doing that, sickens me.

Or stop wasting public money on unnecessary changes and put it back the way it's meant to be, built to be, should always have been. Males use male facilities and stay out of female changing rooms and the NHS provides a mental health service for the loons instead of jobs.

I think Upton may have run away to Australia because he admitted in Court that he'd present himself if a woman specifically asked for female care.

They repeatedly failed to do this or to support Sandie, a SA survivor (not that it should be necessary to mention this) to have somewhere away from men to change her clothes.

That 'other woman' was a male, Dr Upton, who admitted in court he would freely assault women in his care (if they requested same sex care he would give it and gaslight them that he is a woman). Australia is probably the only place that would have him!

Basic rights and dignity are not only for those people we happen to agree with / who have never said anything untoward. The ill

Unions should not be allowed to take people's money then refuse to provide support based on that person's politics/ beliefs. Especially not when those beliefs (humans can't change sex) are legally protected!

The piece includes the mandatory interview from a massive bloke called Tanya who has set up a one-man band called 'A Just Society'. Not entirely sure what the aims of the society actually are, as the About page is largely a load of rambling waffle.

Tanya looks like one of the men who took to the podium to speak in favour of the 'emergency motion' at the Lib Dems conference. I'd love to know why whose funding what is suddenly so very important.

The unions aren't anti-discrimination organisations, their function is to protect their members from employers who break the law. Nearly all the cases that they been successful in winning for their members in the workplace has centred around the employer not meeting it's legal obligations, or the employer not following it's own procedures.

By not providing SP with the support she needed they didn't meet their own obligations, so I hope she wins big time.
