Parkrun comments giving me the rage

This is a silly argument, the barrier to starting a rival to parkrun is not that people dont want proper sex categories, it's that parkrun is a well established, household name, has a community and infrastructure set up and, receives millions in public money.

A MN reader can no more create an event that beats parkrun, than they can launch a car company that overtakes BMW by being the same but with the cup holder in a better place. But that doesn't mean the cup holder couldn't be in a better place.

I wonder if you've considered that attitudes like yours are the reason we have equality legislation in the first place.

It's so difficult for you to set up your own business to employ black people that you're trying to force unwilling employers to take them on them instead! Imagine!

They're not expected to 'beat Parkrun' they want to change Parkrun and Parkrun isn't interested in changing for them. So they can either keep trying to destroy it - or start their own. The fact they are choosing the former makes them look batshit.

Who is excluded? Women can turn up, as they have always been able to and, as far as I can tell, always will be able to.

And yet the women's category includes men, so women are denied the opportunity of their own records and placements.

As has been explained multiple times, they provide comparative information to men that they don't provide to women.

Again, you seem more familiar with MRA talking points than the history of parkrun. The company was initially called 'UK Time Trials'. If parkrun believe that the sharing of results is exclusionary, there is no reason for them to continue to share results.

And conversely, the men's includes women. It is not a race. There are no prizes, no accolades. You turn up, you run, you get your time and you try and beat it the next time. That is it. If you want to race - go and enter a race. Parkrun is a community initiative to get more people running. They do that with an inclusive policy. Come on Sheep! Get with the programme! It's a community based FUN run that will be DESTROYED if men can't rank their time agains other men! (But not women because it would be unladylike if they cared).

Because they want to. What is the prize for winning? Is it cash? Is it a medal? Is there a ceremony? What exactly are you losing out on if you don't win? Almost everyone who takes part (who isn't deranged) turns up, runs, has a lovely time and then goes on with their day. You should try it. Might help you live a happier life.

Records for a fun run? They're appropriate for competitions. Might as well start chronicling the egg and spoon race if we're going to do fun runs...

It's honestly mad. When people have become so deranged by their hatred of trans people that they resort to trying to destroy something as wholesome and good as Parkrun - you know they're too far gone. It's so bizarre.

Its taken more than 5 years to set up a parkrun in our local park, so yes it is pretty difficult

...way, way more difficult than simply ticking your correct sex when you set up a parkrun profile and running in that category and coming 25th man instead of first female 🙄

You can only characterize women wanting an honest women's category as "trying to destroy" Parkrun - and you do - if you think that having an honest women's category would destroy Parkrun.

Pretending men are women is at the same time both a trivial issue and a matter core to the existence of Parkrun.

For all I think she is a grifter since quitting swimming, at least Riley Gaines complaint about trans being in a competition with her had merit. A fun run though...

Calling it a 'fun run' just demonstrates that you haven't the foggiest idea what you are talking about.

For all the people insisting it doesnt matter, its just a fun-run, and insinuating women are making a fuss over a miniscule problem....why bother even separating the sexes in parkrun - or any sport at all come to that, if its of no consequence....?
