Sale of tickets cancelled due to 'health and safety' - speaker details deleted. This change to their website was done today. Clearly mad scenes going on their website as they frantically try to back-peddle

Once/if ALCI get wind that you have posted the programme, I predict that they will ask MN to delete your post (don't ask me how I know this), so I recommend that if anyone reading this wants to keep a copy of the programme for themselves, screenshot or otherwise save it before it disappears!

I had three children. I never actually had any formula in the house during the months when any of them was feeding exclusively on milk. In fact I have never bought any formula milk, even for a friend!

But clearly I am a liar. Oh well.

I've kept a copy, so if anyone wants it they can ask me to put it up again. On what possible grounds could they ask for it to be removed. It was out in public and there is zero on it that they should be trying to hide. We on mumsnet can be certain that the organisers of the conference fully vetted everyone at it.

The HSE (Irish NHS) are up in big bold letters on the bottom of the page.

Then there is also the NMBI in big bold letters too. (Irish Nursing and Midwifery Board).

If that wasn't enough, there is - hi - another Irish government initiative on the page.

No doubt all three organisations are delighted to be on here (and probably the HSE is sponsoring the event ! ) .

So we can be ever so certain that breast feeding women and their babies are being given the best of advice.

Logically, he must know that it's possible to exclusively breast feed a child, given that humans are mammals and we existed for millions of years before formula was invented but he can't just say 'some people combine formula and breastfeeding very successfully'. He has to say that women who say they exclusively breastfeed are lying.

It's ridiculous, isn't it.

Not least of which is that sometimes babies themselves call the shots.

You'd be surprised, and "proprietary such and such" and, just do it MN, or else, even with stuff that has been in the public domain. I think MN is very good at standing their ground when it really matters (hence FWR and our discussions over the past however many years while everyone else caved), but they're risk averse when it comes to advertisers and being sued. (all of this is pure speculation, of course, except the part about my post being deleted).

It's so important for ALCI to know that we have the receipts - they'll probably try to squirm out of this [what's with the 'health and safety grounds'??] but they need to have their noses rubbed in it.

Not just the JE thing itself, but their 'ethos' of 'human lactation' being something that everyone has a right to have a go at, because of 'inclusivity'.

I think that will feel just plain wrong to a lot of Irish people, even the many who have gone along with '#bekind' and trans rights without thinking too deeply about it.

The 'health and safety' made me laugh. They cannot admit that they really messed up inviting this guy. I'd nearly feel sorry for them except it's their own stupid fault for getting in bed with the DEI stuff/woke stuff/pronouns stuff. Worst of all is they are peddling this stuff as a legitimate organisation to mothers and their own professionals.

I wonder whether they will now find any hotel prepared to host them at short notice.

(I have had to do with running events in hotels. The utter nightmare is the hotel pulling out for whatever reason, leaving you with the need to find another within budget and in time.)

How on earth did he ever become a 'lactation consultant'? So one minute he was a receptionist booking appointments and arranging for breast pumps to be delivered and the next he's a renowned expert in the field? I know that you find it hard to believe that some women are putting up with or even promoting this sort of shit, but you have a habit of almost making it sound like an accusation. You don't walk in our shoes, so try not to be so judgemental.
