Big news: WPATH concedes in court its Standards of Care are merely "an opinion"

Very interesting thread from SEGM

https://xcancel.com/segm_ebm/status/2086998491876991070?s=20

"WPATH has conceded in court that its "Standards of Care" is merely an opinion. WPATH says it represents one side of an unsettled scientific debate marked by uncertainty — and physicains & orgs that rely on WPATH as the standard of care must bear "independent responsibility."/1"

Obviously WPATH is trying to avoid legal liability so hopefully this positioning won't fly for it in court. However, this admission it is a win for evidence based medicine either way.

Get the message out the "Standards of Care" are just an opinion and there are other (better) opinions out there.

I hope the Nitter link works - its my first time trying to make one so fingers crossed...

The Ghost and their bumping posts have been disappeared

Annoyingly, the threads stay in the most recent list even after the posts vanish.

I suspect that there's a "last updated" timestamp set on the threads themselves, instead of the forum software inferring that timestamp from the latest post.

It sounds like it's 'what goes around, comes around' time. All those they silenced because they spoke an inconvenient truth are coming back to bite them on the arse. Hopefully the whole rotten edifice will be exposed for the lying, duplicitous, fetish fulfilling, sick monstrosity it is.
Those responsible must be vilified for the damage they've done and for the harm they've unleashed.

Let’s not forget this legal evidence is merely the latest in a trail of damning evidence. I’m not sure of the timing of this current legal proceeding but I hope when it comes to court and there is a judgment it garners more media attention than the WPATH files.

WPATH's castles built on sand are starting to crumble.

Have a look at this story of Karla Solheim, a female gynecologist asking questions:

After this, Solheim “began to dig more deeply into the literature on transgender medical science,” expecting to find “a great body of research supporting these invasive measures.” Instead, she “couldn’t find a single good long-term, longitudinal study on the health outcomes of transgender patients who underwent treatments including hormone replacement therapy and surgery. Then I started reading books like Hannah Barnes’s ‘Time to Think,’ an investigation into what went wrong at the U.K.’s Tavistock Gender Service for Children, which shut down in 2022 after independent inspectors found it provided ‘inadequate’ care.”

“In July 2025, I tuned in to a United States Federal Trade Commission hearing that laid out a strong case that leaders within WPATH unethically manipulated their data or put pressure on researchers to produce outcomes that supported their preexisting guidelines,” Solheim continued. “I was floored to discover the research basis [for] gender medicine both for adolescents and adults was not just poor; it was fraudulent. I couldn’t understand how my medical association, let alone others in my field, could endorse it.”

nothing much to report from the European or Pacific Paths? Those are subsets of WPATH, and even less robust.

im having a hard time IRL, and the fall of WPATH would cheer me right up. Ideally, that will be Followed by the jailing of that yet the teets Irish surgeon, who is a demon.

The "free speech" get out of jail free attempt bit seems a bit of a giveaway to me.
In a malpractice suit against a doctor how often have you heard "free speech" as a defence of bad professional advice? Misdiagnosed? Free speech on the part of the doctor. Makes no sense.
No professional giving advice to a paying customer in any field of human endeavour gets to use "free speech" as a defence for giving bad advice. An architect can't claim "free speech" when their building falls down and kills people. Free speech covers the professional's opinion on general topics outside of work, e.g. who they vote for, and why. It does not cover giving bad advice in their professional capacity.
Strangely I think they are relying on this as part of their argument. I believe that by calling it free speech, they are trying to say/imply it was never professional advice. They are clearly trying to distance themselves from legal liability, and this is one of many ways they are trying to do it. WPATH claiming free speech, is WPATH claiming it was never professional advice that can be held to legal account. This completely ignores all the time they have been dressing it up as much as they can as professional "expert" "standards" advice.
I'm guessing they can see the FO stage of FAFO is barrelling towards them, and they want out.

Probably. The whole 'debate' which preceded the passing of the 2015 Gender Recognition Act in Ireland took the form of adopting wholesale the 'expertise' of TENI/Transgender Equality Network Ireland, who I'm sure relied on the WPATH protocol bigtime.

WPATH cropped up in a lot of places where trans healthcare was discussed - I think it has been quietly sidelined in recent years, somebody somewhere must have done a bit of due diligence and realised that WPATH was not the respected international standards body it acted like.

It would be interesting to track the rise and fall of the use of WPATH as the go-to source for trans health policy, in Ireland and elsewhere.

To complete this point about WPATH being an important source in the passing of the GRA/self-ID in Ireland:

I've just checked on their website, and the highly influential group TENI/Transgender Equality Network Ireland [who are deferred to as The Experts, even by the medical profession] have been citing WPATH

WPATH, (2022). Standards of Care for the Health of Transgender and Gender Diverse People, Version 8, International Journal for Transgender Health, p. 31. www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/26895269.2022.2100644

as late as August 2024
Trans Healthcare Another way is possible – TENI

although the revelations about WPATH's lack of scientific rigour had appeared a year earlier in 2023.

Sorry to quote myself, but I like to tie up loose ends with proper references and linksSmile

Was Green president too? And she is mentioned in Webberly’s fitness to practice case as the person who trained Webberly.

Susie Green worked in IT before she transed her son and became a global expert in gender r

She looked after the IT infrastructure (PCs, network etc) for Leeds Citizen's Advice Bureau before resigning to become CEO of Mermaids. As far as I know, there were no other Leeds CAB employees in IT. It's quite a small organisation, two or three dozen paid employees and a lot of volunteers doing advice work.

Wasn't that bloody awful Steven Whittle a member as well, she went to NZ and as an WPATH 'expert' in the case LAVA 's bring didn't she.

The odious Whittle was president of WPATH from 2007-2009 - first non-medical practitioner to hold the position.
