Do we really need to find common ground in society?

Interesting discussion on BBC R4 atm using gender ideology vs women’s rights as an example. The female discussant is brilliant. She’s not allowing any reframing of transgenderism as being a moderate position.

Camilla Tominey is a Telegraph writer as well as being on GB News. Agree I’m quite surprised they let someone so forthright on this on Radio 4.

I am not her biggest fan but she is making clear and coherent arguments here

What a joke!
Trans is shoehorned into everything and has been completely prioritised everywhere including the BBC.
This was part of the problem noted with lack of balance.
Even dramas about menopausal women had to have a bloke in a frock singing about hot sweats and blood in knickers which clearly does not apply to him.

I am all for both men role playing as women and women role playing as men to be given airtime to discuss their desire to do away with single sex provision and force others to buy into their role play provided there are sensible well informed voices there to counter them

frankly, when allowed to speak in a neutral environment ‘trans’ people generally undermine their own arguments better than anyone else could

for that reason and due to some ‘trans’ people having a modicum of self knowledge it has often been difficult to get ‘trans’ people for these kinds of discussions, leading to some stifling of debate

I well remember an article on newsnight with two men discussing the use of the term ‘womxn’. One of the men happened to be wearing a dress which meant theBBC simply could not understand what I was on about when I complained

I think this show was a good example of how reasonable discussions about this topic can be had when you don't have a presenter trying to shut them down in horror or constantly interjecting about "being kind" or "both sides".

With all his waffle, and 'clash of rights' language, Tryl managed, perhaps unintentionally, to put across the message that the trans rights issue, unlike the gay rights issue, is a zero-sum game. Transphobe!
