I realised I’d got the key so I’ve come back to lock up.

The hay has been loaded on trailers and a fleet of John Deeres, New Holland's, Valtras, Classes and wee grey Fergies have dragged it to the new location. We will need the hay before winter is out.

That’s partly why, in my retirement, I only work for pay if it’s for my old employer who does all the tax work for me.

@MyrtleLion I am so sorry that the interview didn't work out. Maybe the medication needs a few days to bed in. I am, however, on tenterhooks about where Gosie's new adventure will take her and us.

Right I'm all up to date with tales of Gosie's new adventure. I've checked all my hiding spots for stray Tunnock's. I've got a micro pig in my back pack and Gubbin's triangle from down the back of the sofa is safely stashed in my back pocket.

Maybe she had an epiphany when she was a teenager that Josie was passé, she was a gerbil destined for big for adventures...

On the pronunciation, I realised that it is Go See with a hard G and I like that she goes and sees things. The pronunciation is only mentioned in the synopsis which has only been posted on here so will soon be forgotten 💙

Thanks for all your commiserations. As always when I don’t get a job, the Walrus says, well at least you don’t have to pretend you like that specialism. In this case, he’s absolutely correct. A very dull field.

@Chickadeeinme UK tax system is starting to look America in if you are self employed, or are income is not from a payer system.

Over here it is best to overpay upfront to avoid bills that include interest.

Camping aged 6/7 (celebrated my 7th birthday whilst on the camping holiday) and I'm screaming the tent down in the middle of the night because something with many many many many many legs had crawled up under my nightie. It was terrifying.

I have NEVER camped since.

That's a hefty bill when you're not expecting it. Actually, it's a hefty bill full stop.

Major sympathies to @MyrtleLion and @EmpressaurusKitty . That's rough for both of you in different ways.

I am pissed off today. Our accountant, with whom we have been working for probably fifteen years or more by now, sold his business to an out-of-state corporate body, so we were unexpectedly presented with a new accountant this year. I did all our figures the way we've always done them and sent them off a month before the deadline. Nothing happened. We finally heard they'd filed for an extension. Then we started to get enquiries for all sorts of info that either we'd sent or was not relevant to the American tax system (I have P60s because my income comes mostly from UK pension stuff, but that does not line up with the American tax year, so sending them is a bit pointless because the figures don't line up with the January 1 to December 31 income figures. ) Finally today we got our stuff and our tax return back. Good news - a tax break for seniors means we owe less tax this year. Bad news - the bill from the new accountants s more than triple the amount we paid the old accountant. No warning given about this. Tax return document the usual incomprehensible mish-mash.

However because they were so late getting the information to us, instead of finding a smaller amount of money for April and June, we now have to find a much larger chunk for September and January for our payments on account. And on top of that they want us to pay nearly $6500 for the work.

Needless to say we will be looking for new accountants next year.
