M&S Colchester claim mixed changing is ‘completely safe’ for women.

In the UK "transpeople" are very rarely assaulted on the street. I should however point out to you, that according to the latest prison statistics for England and Wales, around 58.9% of transwomen prisoners are in prison for sexual offences, which compares to 16.8% of men and unsurprisingly 3.3% of women. We have also seen violent attacks on women by transwomen, yet no attacks on transwomen by women.
I wonder why that is?

It is not just a matter of safety; it is a matter of dignity and comfort. Why compromise the comfort and dignity of the majority of your customers in order to appease the odd few? Instead Why not acommodate the 'odd few' in discrete and self contained cubicles?

@TransParentlyAnnoyed you clearly haven't understood why male moobs are nothing like female breasts. Have you not seen all the photos from the topless protests that transwomen have done? Like I mentioned, transwomen don't have the same Cooper's Ligaments as women, so when you look at the photos, you'll see that they either have very floppy 'moobs' like any other overweight men, or they have oddly-spaced silicon lumps.

Men's chests and shoulders are significantly wider than female bodies, so their moobs are spaced differently to women's, they have a completely different cup to strap ratio and they often need lots of padding.

This is why specialist bra shops for transwomen exist, and why these men are not going to find a suitable bra at a shop like M&S that has bras that are designed for women's bodies.

If a transwoman is having a bra fitting at M&S, he's not going to find one that fits in the vast majority of cases.

And a woman pointing out that men's bodies are different to women's bodies is categorically not the reason why 'transwomen are so regularly subjected to street violence'.

Women are not the ones being violent to transwomen. Men who are violent to transwomen tend to do it because the transwoman is involved in drug deals, prostitution or because the transwoman is the man's partner. You'll be pleased to hear that crimes against transwomen have fallen dramatically since 2023 when the police finally realised that misgendering is not, in fact, a crime.

The reality is that transwomen are more likely to commit murder than to be victims of murder. There are lots more details in this recent study from oxford University.

Providers have the obvious solution of creating an additional unit/room/cubicle for theose few that prefer it to the facility for their sex. Some venues and providers have already done this. It is not rocket science and it also, most often, the cheapest and least disruptive option.

Pity to add a structure that is such a safeguarding risk in order to try and appease many people who don’t want that ‘solution’.
