I ploughed through at least half of the btl comments on this lame Gaby Hinsliff piece to see what Guardian readers thought of Polanski (had forgotten how insufferable many of the commenters are). It’s not good for Walter Titty, he’s losing them.

I always thought this might be an explanation as to why they're went whole hog on the transgender thing. If neutering people before they're old enough to breed doesn't cut down the birth rate, I don't know what will.

Have they got anything about population reduction policies? That’s the sort of thing I can imagine they might advocate.

People who've suggested this in recent months have had the Zack Army smack them down as jealous of the greens commitment to a better world.

Whisper it, but if they really do make "how will this affect climate change" as front and centre, it'd mean some very unpopular policies, not least in reducing food miles and meat and food needing to be more expensive, as well as stuff current buried in the party conference motions like restricting pet ownership.

I doubt they'll dump identity politics. It's the only key thing keeping their halfway reliable voting base on board, as demonstrated by global majority greens

I was wondering when he would get around to climate change. I suspect that he doesn’t want to be drawn on environmental issues because he realises he’s pretty ignorant about them.

I was thinking the other day that Al Gore not being elected POTUS twenty-six years ago was quite the disaster. Who knows - with the environment to focus on, the Democrats might have avoided falling into the hands of the gender ideologues.

The turn out for the election for the Mayor in Manchester was 25%, which would seem to suggest that this politically invented role is important to nobody but the political classes.

Bevan Craig's old seat, now she's moved out and up, is up for grabs. She's been saying that the wants to be mayor for everyone. Even people who didn't vote for her! Well, I mean, that's literally part of the job but it's a nice thing to say regardless. How it'll work in practice, will GC voices be able to speak and be heard. I'd like to think so

The metro mayor elections involved all of the outer boroughs and not just the city of Manchester., though...and those boroughs are not Green territory - maybe with the exception of Trafford.

Haven't most of the 'troublesome' ex Tories already moved to Reform, though.
Personally, think there are a good few Tories who I think are very capable and who could have wider appeal. Give them a couple more years......

Once Reform loses its shine, I think more of their voters will move towards the Tories than towards Labour; and certainly if Badenoch hits the rights notes on the sorts of issues that matter to them.

I just read this article this morning. Absolutely shocking.

The Police seem to be very busy these days. Over on other threads they've been involved in contacting journalists looking into that academic who's made outlandish claims about his disabilities and marathon running. They've also been interviewing that Wings Scotland guy about supposed harassment at the behest of a trans activist who issues death threats with little formal sanction.

I'm a big fan of Kemi's, of them all she's by far the best politician, I'd vote for her personally but not the party that she's the leader of. The Tory's low position in the vote might have more to do with personality, the Restore guy was very articulate.

Set next to Kemi our Zack is a trainwreck, and the Green candidate came across as a student playing at politics.

It will take a while for people to forgive the Tories for 2010 to 2022, if they ever do. I'd take Badenoch over any of the Reform and Restore mob, but she's saddled with the Tory reputation in a way that they are not, though they should be.
