What do people get from coming here to 'scold' us?

CassOle · 13/06/2025 08:56

My first (not completely serious) thoughts are: their arse handed to them and screenshots.

However, is there more to it?

Why do some long term posters come back again and again with the same arguments that haven't worked before? Do they think that it might work this time?

Then there are the 'my Trans friends are lovely' scolders. Do they really think that we should forget safeguarding, biological reality, single-sex provision etc. becuase they have lovely friends?

Lastly, the thread ploppers. If we are lucky, they might even reply. The one last night might have been getting sexual kicks from it, but we have had other ploppers who just appeared to want to tell us how mean and nasty we are.

None of these (that I have seen) have brought good, well reasoned arguments to back up their points. Maybe that is what causes people to scold and run, or plop and run, as when the arguments cannot stand up to scrutiny (or they have the screenshots), they stop posting.

This then brings me back to the long term posters who are TWAW. I would not like it if they were driven off this board, as it is a public board and as long as the T&C are kept to, they have every right to post. It must be hard posting against the main opinion on any matter, so they must get 'something' from it. Maybe Chris et al will be kind enough to explain this from their point of view?

Well I come here when I see posts in Active. Sometimes I agree and sometimes I don’t, depending on thread subject. But it’s hard to sit on the fence. Maybe the posters who ‘come here to scold’ are like me - they just see it, rather than seek it. (Although I don’t usually scold, but just read and move on.)

I think they’re talking about the people who come to Mumsnet for the first time purposely to scold.

CassOle · 17/06/2025 11:02

To the poster who suggested that I read the 'Lesbian Pride March – Saturday 5th July – Women Only (London)' thread: thank you. It is a real eye-opener.

I find it odd and a sign they have too much time on their hands. I don’t go around looking for TRA fora to start fights in and try and “educate” them despite me thinking they are wrong and deluded

If you scolders are reading, and we all know you are, take advice from this. It's pointless moralising at us about knowing men aren't women and telling us we're far right bigots for it. Everyone knows this is nonsense and people are fatigued and no longer silenced by it.

Honestly, truly, sincerely, your best bet for your cause is to look at the trans community and do some housekeeping there. Get them to stop making death and rape threats, pissing in the streets, holding signs calling for women to be shot, stabbed, hanged and set on fire. Stop accusing everyone who wants single sex changing rooms and sports of being Nazis, it's fucking inane and offensive to the memory of all those who died in the Holocaust and in fighting the actual Nazis. Stop attacking women for not wanting men in their spaces and start campaigning for third spaces and for men to be welcoming of transwomen in theirs, if you're not happy with the existing provisions. Stay away from the confused, unhappy children and their parents. If men or women want to create a single sex space, just sodding let them. Create your own additional mixed sex space if you like, and don't lie about what it is. And stop going after bunny rescues, for the love of God.

Apparently, you need to be told!

Love this ⬆️

Helleofabore · 17/06/2025 09:56

There is a bonus about the bunny situation though. I have not followed them, but I have so many bunny posts that pop up on my twitter feed now that I am actually quite enjoying them. I much prefer bunnies to cats and dogs, although I still love Quokkas the best.

Indeed — and all the “protests” where trans-identified men get out their breasts, shout angrily into megaphones and so on, all just reinforce this.

Especially the “piss protests”. Who is notorious for pissing on territory they think ought to be theirs? Male animals, that’s who. They honestly never seem to understand how this behaviour comes across as deeply, essentially male.

If TWWW they'd be apologising for making a fuss and sit in the background, fearful of speaking upand being labelled a Karen.

Exactly that.

And they'd be told that whatever they wanted and felt didn't matter, that they were hateful for not putting everyone else before themselves, and they wouldn't be allowed organisations or voices.

Indeed.
When I was a kid I'd throw tantrums when told no and stomp upstairs yelling how everyone hates me.

ThatCyanCat · 17/06/2025 09:21

I also don't know why they think we haven't ever talked to any trans people. I know several trans people and I've talked to all of them several times. They're all very nice and they're all very very plainly the sex they are and don't belong in spaces for the opposite sex, for the same reasons as literally everybody else.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 17/06/2025 09:14

ThatCyanCat · 17/06/2025 08:42

There is something really, really adolescent about saying, "If you don't all give me what I want all the time no matter the consequences to others, it means you HATE ME AND WANT ME DEAD."

CassOle · 17/06/2025 08:45

The idea that anyone who understands that human beings cannot change sex 'hates' every single person who says that human beings can change sex is wrong.

The idea that every single person who understands that human beings cannot change sex 'has never met a trans person' is wrong.

Understanding biological reality should not be characterised as 'bullying'.

See, this is what TRAs refuse to understand.

Not prioritising one group in all things at all times in not hating them.
Saying other groups have rights that must be protected also is not hating them.
Telling them no is not hating them.

Who is it that thinks they should be prioritised at all times and that they matter most and get outraged if they don't get what they want?

checks notes. Yup. Men.

But no. And why? Male entitlement supported by handmaidens.

Additional readers note:

Posts which start with "I'm not reading this entire thread..." and then continue in a vein of non-engaged ill-tempered reproachment are pretty much by definition 'scolding' - although at least the PP has the honesty to effectively admit that it is scolding.

DeanElderberry · 17/06/2025 08:27

People do it because they care about the people this echo-chamber hates, the people whose lives are ruined, the people who are scapegoated and maligned but who nobody here have ever actually talked to.

If this 'echo chamber' 'hates' anyone it is the cynical profiteers who make money out of confused adolescents - the pharma companies, the rogue surgeons, the rogue psychs, the self-aggrandising academics, all of who pile in the cash.

We're not keen on misogynist and/or perverse and/or violent adult men who adopt 'female' names the better to demean and intimidate women, and we don't like media outlets who parrot those names.

But I have never seen any sign that any of the misogynists or the profiteers or the women-hating individuals are bullied or vulnerable.

The main charge against this place is that we don't misunderstand them. That's why we have to be scolded. Noticing the nakedness of the emperor and calling it out. RUDE of us.

TheOtherRaven · 17/06/2025 08:27

You will however very easily find in GI committed speakers here and on X and Bluesky and in interviews, those who will look straight at the evidence while telling you they identify as that evidence not existing.

Some MPs are particularly good at it.

Helleofabore · 17/06/2025 08:12

Readers Note:

There is actual proof that this does not happen on this first page of threads in this section right now. No, threads started for support are not “swamped by incel-like online losers seeking to spread their hate, whose advice only makes situations worse for everyone and then aggrandise themselves as victims of an all-powerful global conspiracy”.

You can even go and see threads started for support right now on this board.

In fact, usually the “incel-like online losers seeking to spread their hate, whose advice only makes situations worse for everyone and then aggrandise themselves as victims of an all-powerful global conspiracy” are not the posters on the board who support the prioritisation of sex over gender identity when sex matters. I recommend anyone with doubts about this look at this link below as a very good example of this.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5355905-lesbian-pride-march-saturday-5th-july-women-only-london

In fact this thread I have posted show just who is “some of the most bullied, vulnerable, and misunderstood members of society.” And here is a hint, it is not the male people who demand that they are treated as if they had changed sex.

Yeah, "nobody has ever talked to " MALES (whether in a dress or in a suit) before....

Claiming males are scapegoated and maligned is the absolute height of gaslighting and DARVO. Thankfully you are in an ever-decreasing minority out of step with the community.

Kind of off topic but related in a way. There is evidence that giving estrogen to male rats has incredibly horrible results on their brain structure and function. As we know rats are chosen because their brains and nervous systems are the closest in likeness to humans in an animal that is relatively cheap to take care of and isn't going to cause an uproar like experimenting on chimpanzees.

Anyway I was with a spouse who seemed intelligent but had been taking hormones behind my back. He was very scientific and logical unless it was something related to his fetish. I do wonder if its the combination of addiction to their fetish and the brain altering effects from hormones that make it nearly impossible to have a logical, non circular debate with TRAs.

As for the hand maidens, they are going with feelings over facts. They are virtue signaling and doing the equivalent of a white savior but as a trans savior.

Studies also show the the brains of human males are significantly reduced after even 4 months of being on estrogen.

It’s rarely trans men or women identifying as non-binary and when it is there tends to be a somewhat empathetic discussion on both sides.

When it’s a man, I think they’re usually here for the thrill of putting women in their place, surprisingly not ironically in a place populated by women. They seem to somehow know that we’re actual women which is not curious. I think there’s occasional a younger man who seem more surprised that we’re generally talking with concern about women’s spaces and women and children’s wellbeing. Occasionally it goes well for a few pages and they usually leave before it gets too horrendous.

TooSquaretobehip · 14/06/2025 01:52

suggestionsplease1 · 13/06/2025 14:46

But you are aware other countries (countries with the best record for women's wellbeing and equality with men) have navigated potential areas of harm whilst retaining gender self ID, right?

https://www.context.news/socioeconomic-inclusion/denmarks-decade-of-self-id-cools-debate-on-trans-rights

You're aware many women in Denmark have been harmed by self-ID and have been silenced, right?

Right?

No, you just want to read a biased article that is full of misogynistic and dangerous misinformation and assume because you personally haven't read about it, it isn't happening.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 14/06/2025 01:52

Japanese does have gendered pronouns. It just doesn't have gendered third person pronouns, like English does; instead it has gendered first and second person pronouns.

(Insomuch as it has pronouns at all - they don't really work the same way in Japanese and are often classed as a type of noun rather than having a separate category.)

TooSquaretobehip · 14/06/2025 01:45

Pawse · 13/06/2025 13:45

Because there are no gendered pronouns in Japan apparently! Good strong argument there!

Wouldn't that piss trans off though? They deliberately want gendered pronouns. That's the whole point of changing/stating pronouns. It's about gender. So Japan not having gendered pronouns must really piss off trans people because it reduces their ability to grandstand and attention-seek and label themselves.
