Sigh.

I have sympathy for everyone with a DSD, but that doesn't extend to tolerating men with DSDs playing in women's sport. It's rough that this means some talented athletes can't pursue career in professional sport, but life frequently isn't fair or kind and the unfairness to women (not to mention potential safety issues) is much greater if men with DSDs are allowed to take opportunities, achievements and recognition that should go to women.

There are jobs I'm ineligible for because of my myopia and I have to accept that. Suck it up Banda, play as a man if you're good enough, if you're not then do your coaching badges or just earn a living in another field.

Isn’t it funny how every athlete who is accused of looking like a man turns out to be…a man.

The racism is in the belief that it’s not possible or harder to tell black African males and females apart and we shouldn’t “assume”. It’s perfectly possible to tell that Semenya, Banda, Mboma etc are men because they look like men. It’s a sexist and racist insult to African women that these men look like them.

Incidentally, the hateful language, according to Reddit, was "she shouldn't even be on the pitch".
Suzy Wrack is fantastic journalist but like so many, has just lost her mind over the issue of male people in women's sport.

yeah, the reader is tempted to sit up and at least half take notice when they seem to almost be about to categorically say that Banda is female, but the article soon reverts to the usual 'sex testing is no good anyway'/'it's all very complicated' drivel before, as you say, senselessly tilting at a straw man in the form of whether BB might be 'trans'.

Ah feck. I wrote a long and detailed summary of the discussion on DSDs, sex not gender, etc, which we had at the time of the Olympics, as it was obvious that several posters hadn't read that discussion.
Sometimes I remember to copy and save my longer posts, so I don't lose them in to-ing and fro-ing, but I didn't save that one😠
It did strike me as a bit funny that posters were saying 'I know absolutely nothing about footie, so tell me who I should vote for', maybe MN thought it was blatant gerrymandering. Gerrywomandering. Gerrypersondering.Grin
