Would you ever consider a transman a man?

Parallel question to this really:

Would the straight women here consider a trans-identified female, who "passed" really well, as a romantic/sexual partner?

And for the lesbian women here, would that "passing" be a turn-off?

I was aware you were being amusing. I found it funny.

And I complain about people being rude and abusive when they are.

If only there were an app for 'why does that coat look so good on them, and would it work for me?' :)

Oh good! I thought I was losing my 'it's the way I tell' em' touch😃

Maybe I should try my luck on the MN shopping board :
'Help me find a coat that would make me irresistible to women. BTW I am a woman, size 14'😁

ArabellaScott · 05/04/2026 18:02

I mean obviously a transman is a woman. Its impossible to define a transman without referring to her sex.

So no, OP, there is no way a transman is a man, not in any way whatsoever.

How the hell did we end up with a movement that seeks to declare the opposite of reality as truth? Sometimes I think its the point. The absurdity, the obvious impossibility of it. A grand declaration of faith, like transubstantiation.

Cailleach1 · 05/04/2026 17:57

Well, I would think a woman who claims to be a man has some issues. If she has bits of her body chopped off, that is self harm. Same with taking drugs which may damage her body. I would feel very sorry for her, of course. That she has such pain, and self loathing of her very sex.

We know that many of the girls who try to opt out of womanhood have been damaged. Whether abuse, or homophobia, and the sexualisation of female as ‘the other’. They want to escape, and think cosmetically altering their bodies will be a way out.

So, with that background, I would only have sympathy for them. I wish they could see they are fully human as the women they are. I’d be worried their loathing of themselves extends to other women as well. So, there’s that.

It appears that there also isn't a card-issuing agency for having a sense of humour.
You complain about people being rude and abusive, and somebody being a bit light-hearted goes whoosh! 🙄

And being a lesbian means I am only sexually attracted to women, it's not a minute-by-minute/'who knows who I'll fancy tomorrow?'/'it's just that I haven't met the right man' kind of thing.

So although there are some men I like as people, and I can think of a man as handsome, or well put-together, or cutting a fine figure in that coat, I know for a fact that I won't be sexually attracted to them.

I might be keen to know where he got that coat, though....Wink

I was talking about the sexist medical establishment, and wondered if you'd find it interesting.

I'm just replying, why the aggression?

Anyway, trans men are men, and can do what they want with excess breast tissue. Consent, self-determination and respect - that's what matters.

As I said, unnecessary breast surgery doesn't go down well here.

I'm not gay, but doubt there are police or a card-issuing agency.

As I said, orientation is different to personal attraction. None of us know who we might fall in love with.

I personally wouldn't consider that falling for a trans guy would make me gay, because I'm strongly attracted to certain aspects of masculinity. I'd just need some new skills 😁 Appreciate you probably wouldn't agree, I'm just talking about myself. I like men, whatever's underneath their coats.

Might fall for a cis or trans woman - unlikely, but who knows? Falling for a person is very different to having preferences.

You won't find many women here agreeing that unnecessary breast surgery is a good option for any woman.

I spend zero amounts of time thinking about eunuchs.

Most trans people have had zero surgery. And they aren't turned on by having it, just happy to have their bodies match who they are.

Interestingly, my son would've needed breast-reduction surgery if he'd pursued ballet as a cis woman. It's signed off as necessary by doctors all the time, yet it's for a very short career that can be ended by injury any time.

Also, ballet has harmed his body far more than being trans ever could (injury, damaged tendons).

Fascinating that a sexist establishment has no issue accepting breast surgery when it's done for aesthetic reasons, huh?

if you think eunuch gender is disconnected to transgender, you'd better take it up WPATH. They are the ones promoting it.

No. And i think it's sad that any woman wishes she was a man - almost that she is abandoning us women, and trying to cross to the "dark" side, in that i don't like much of what is presented as 'masculinity' these days. I would feel sad that we'd 'lost' one so to speak
God, this is just so bizarre. I'm not trans, but somebody else being so is "abandoning women" and "losing one*?!
We're all different people, with our own minds, our own bodies, not one great big hive!

MarieDeGournay · 05/04/2026 17:44

TransParentlyAnnoyed Are you comparing trans people to eunochs? Because that's really odd, and very ignorant. Apologies if you aren't, I'm just baffled why you'd bring up eunuchs at all. Bit niche.

Of course voluntary eunuch-ism is an extreme, minority and rare identity - though it was promoted under the umbrella term trans for a long time, and has its own Eunuch Pride flag.

Given the amount of media coverage, public visibility, lanyards, demands for toilets, days of remembrance, 'allies', flags, etc etc etc, it's easy to forget that the actual percentage of trans people in the UK is tiny.
A bit niche, really.

Holy fuck. I missed all that. Was it another wave of the 'love is love' crowd?

Possibly someone whose body is not coping well with testosterone levels no female body should ever have. Otherwise someone who just can't cope with the word 'no'. The fact that the posts appeared in the early hours suggest someone either living in a different time zone or not following normal sleep patterns.

I am proud to be a woman, always have been regardless of all the misogyny I've encountered, i want all women to be able to feel this way, it depresses me to realise that some women want to escape being female - which they can't anyway, it's doomed to failure.

The term 'lesbian' has a meaning, it means women who are sexually - and otherwise - attracted to women.

Women who are concurrently also sexually attracted to men are not lesbians, they are bisexual.

So if I found that I was suddenly, inexplicably, for the first time in my life, sexually attracted to a man, in all honesty I'd have to turn in my 'LifeLongLesbian' membership card, wouldn't I?Grin

I really dont understand why the genderists are so squeamish about bisexuality. It's no big deal.

It"s almost like they really are demanding to redefine other people's sexuality than describe their own.

They spend a great deal of time identifying as the opposite sex, in order to deny homosexuality, in my experience.

Look at Juno Dawson who says that, for a man, being gay is a consolation prize for not being born female. And then claims that not only is he straight, but so is his boyfriend 😁

I honestly thought, in this day and age, homophobia would be largely a thing of the past.

How is that in any way related to whether I, personally, would sleep with a trans guy? Or my wider point about people being attracted to people?

Why are you bringing up a sexual fetish? It's irrelevant to the discussion and (to put it mildly) to my life.

Are you comparing trans people to eunochs? Because that's really odd, and very ignorant. Apologies if you aren't, I'm just baffled why you'd bring up eunuchs at all. Bit niche.

A whole chapter of WPATH's Standards of Care v 8 is on Eunuchs.

I agree its fuckin niche! But hey, its a big world out there, get out and see some of it, dude!

Eunuchs have given enthusiastic consent. They are attracted to themselves with amputated genitals and sometimes other body parts.

Oh wow. You think orientation comes before attraction?

Get out more, read more. See the world, experience its variety! There's a reason the category 'men who have sex with men' exists - it's because lots of them don't identify as gay or bi.

You think out gay people don't sometimes have sex with the opposite gender? That a really large number of women haven't had casual sex with other women? Or that gay men and lesbians don't ever have sex?

Honey, expand that mind of yours. It'll make you happier. Chaos theory is real, we don't ever know what, or who, tomorrow will bring.

lol. The reason the term men who have sex with men exists is because there are some gay or bi men who are homophobic.

And yes we all know there are an infinite number of people who have sex with other people, without being attracted to them. For all sorts of reasons, many of them not particularly pleasant.

And the world keeps turning, and sexual orientation still exists. However much you feel the regressive need to deny it.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · 05/04/2026 17:16
