Would you ever consider a transman a man?

Parallel question to this really:

Would the straight women here consider a trans-identified female, who "passed" really well, as a romantic/sexual partner?

And for the lesbian women here, would that "passing" be a turn-off?

yes but that doesn't mean i would be attracted to them.

we don't like to admit it but bodies feature in attraction and if i was expecting a penis and there wasn't one then i think i would struggle to maintain attraction

Sidaway · 11/04/2023 15:12

I take it that's a "no" then 😉

Must admit, that's my thought too. Just, no. Even if I believed in the gender stuff (which I don't), it would seem too - weird.

Yes sorry it's not really a parallel question - both questions were directed at us women, and so present us with different issues.

Someone should tell these girls who think being a dude would be cool:

  • straight women won't fancy them (missing something between the legs, and just not... quite right)
  • gay men wont (ditto)
  • lesbians wont (too masculine)
  • straight men won't (ditto)

Feel very sorry for what their lives might hold.

I know a few transmen and I consider them men, they pass as men. They are in relationships with women.

Would I date a transman? Probably not. I'm attracted to a Penis not labia. I can't help that.

Haha. This is the exact idea expressed in that infamous tweet.

"I consider trans women are women. Except for relationship purposes."

Your title 'would you ever consider a trans man a man' isn't related to that one in your OP 'Would the straight women here consider a trans-identified female, who "passed" really well, as a romantic/sexual partner?', as they are separate things.

There are many men who I wouldn't consider as a romantic or sexual partner, for many reason, of which their gender identity/expression would be only one of them.

To answer the question in the OP, yes. I wouldn't know the difference tbh, many transmen pass so well that I'd think they were men.

What a strange remark. Of course you'd know the difference is there was any question of a sexual relationship. You'd probably know a long time before that. From puberty on, the difference in the pelvis means you can usually tell from gait alone which sex someone is.

My answer is also no. Nobody can change sex.

FrancescaContini · 11/04/2023 15:10

No. I’m sexually attracted to men, not women.

Marchmount · 11/04/2023 15:09

No way. Even if they “passed” I would never pick a partner that was that demonstrated that level of denial and insisted on the pretence that they were a man.

ArcticSkewer · 11/04/2023 15:06

I just treat them like any other woman really.

I do think they 'pass' a lot better than males do, but there are still often 'butch lesbian' vibes there which is probably upsetting for them as that's what a lot are running away from.

I am not interested in romantic relationships with women so no transman girlfriend for me.

"I do think they 'pass' a lot better than males do,"

Really??? They're noticeable smaller, narrower, walk differently, softer skin. So, so physically different ime

albapunk · 11/04/2023 15:08

P.s the transmen I know are under no illusions, they know they are biologically female. They live as men. I find that transmen seem to be a lot less quiet and embarrassed by TRA related stuff.

WarriorN · 11/04/2023 15:08

No. I know one, really like them and get on with them well. But I actually instinctively feel safer around them. So I'll never feel like I do around men.

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/04/2023 15:07

To my eternal feminist shame, what I like physically is a triangular shaped, tall, big, hairy man. I know I should lock myself in a feminist nunnery and say 100 female eunuchs but there we are.

I also wonder about smell. Bear with me. Men smell good. At least the ones I've gone out with and married do to me. I've never got that pheromone thing from a woman. It's processed subconciously as far as I can tell and I'm not sure there's any way to recreate it.

Even if I wasn't concerned about the psychology of it all.

LizzieSiddal · 11/04/2023 15:07

Most certainly not because they aren’t.

They are female.

Nope.

bellinisurge · 11/04/2023 15:05

No. And transmen are welcome in women's spaces provided they don't expect me to neutralise language which describes women in order to accommodate them. They are also welcome in women's sports provided they aren't doping.

Tarantellah · 11/04/2023 15:05

Depends what you’re looking for I suppose. If you want to have kids you kind of need sperm for that. And if you fancy tall muscular men you’re unlikely to find a trans-man who’s over 6ft tall.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 11/04/2023 15:03

How can any one who hasn’t got a penis ‘ pass’ as a man in a male/ female sexual relationship? It’s just factually and physically impossible. The manufactured ‘penis’ made from a bit of arm flesh don’t function in the same way as the the real …thing.
I can’t speak for ‘lesbians’ but I thought that many trans men seem to fancy a gay relationship ( ie with a bloke) just as the vast majority of trans women claim to be ‘lesbians’ ie still fancying women.

No. Humans can't change sex. I'd consider them a butch lesbian unless they told me they were straight or bi.

This!

Transwomen are men in skirts!

Based on the two I have known, no. They're nothing like men, physically, mentally, socially.

Ponderingwindow · 11/04/2023 15:00

As a romantic/sexual partner? No. They don’t match my attraction matrix.

LizziesTwin · 11/04/2023 15:00

No.
