Does this new word puzzle make sense to first-time players?

I've made a little word puzzle – would love to know what people think
I've been working on a word puzzle called InferIt, which I've been playing with friends and family. It's a bit like Wordle, except instead of telling you which letters are green/yellow, it gives you numbers and you have to work out what they mean.
It's free and takes a few minutes to play:

Yes. I will take a look. You could try the Android version from the play store, as the web version is difficult to design for every device at once. Your phone has a fairly low resolution, so it is hard to put too much text on the screen, but it is difficult for me to detect that and present a different view when that is the case.

I'll try coding something up tonight.

Thanks, I didn't realise there was an app version.

FWIW, my phone has no issues with resolution, other than when I have to compress photos to upload them on here. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by low resolution tbh.

Could you make it so that you can reopen a hint
? On today's daily no.5 I used a hint but it overlay the puzzle so I couldn't match what it was saying to the grid. Then ofc I forgot what the hint said but couldn't toggle between it and the grid. Does that make I even sense?

Thanks for highlighting. This seems a bigger issue the smaller your phone. I pushed an update so the hint now is placed under the clues so you can scroll up and down to see them.

The hints show up much better on the app, under the words rather than on them. I still don't understand them though.

Ignore that. All the hint is doing now is deleting impossible letters and not explaining why. So I'm not learning anything

I have a quick fix for the hint covering page issue. Load the hint; go to Aa zoom (or whatever it is on your device) and lower the text size. Then you can temporarily see both even if they are smaller. Then when finished with the hint make the page text normal again.

I've quite enjoyed it, but some hints and explanations are worded a little confusingly and could be clearer.
Also, I played maybe 15 levels earlier and now I've gone back to the same browser window (had left it open) and it's lost all progress or memory of completed games and wants to show the level 1 guide again.

Game works well but the instructions are poorly worded, both in terms of explaining clearly and from a use of language pov.

I don't wish to get the app thanks. I'm just saying to help you as I don't have any privacy logins plugins and this doesn't happen with any other similar games I play, so you may want to look at your set up if you want people to come back. It's happened twice with yours now.

I really like the idea, especially for people who already enjoy Wordle and other daily word games. I agree with some of the comments that the instructions could be a little clearer for first-time players.
I also use different word-solving approaches depending on the puzzle—sometimes working from the clues, and sometimes checking what words can be made from a particular set of letters. I’ve found anagram tools useful for the latter, especially when I’m stuck on longer combinations. I use https://solveanagrams.co.uk/ for that.
