When it comes to drinking more water, plenty of us have good intentions - until the tap water tastes a bit rank, the kids ask for cordial again or the kettle starts collecting limescale like it’s a hobby.
That’s where a water filter jug can be a simple kitchen upgrade. The AQUAPHOR Fresh Water Filtration Jug was recently put through its paces by Mumsnet testers, who used it at home for drinking water, filling bottles, making tea and coffee, and keeping chilled water ready in the fridge.

What did Mumsnet testers like?
Testers were especially impressed by the taste of the filtered water, with many saying it tasted fresher, cleaner and noticeably better than water straight from the tap:
The water tastes crisp and clean, with no hint of chlorine or metallic aftertaste. Compared to bottled water, it’s just as refreshing - if not better - without the plastic waste or constant trips to the shop.
A common theme was that the jug encouraged the whole family to drink more water - particularly children.
Great product. Jug is easy to set up and use and fits easily into the door of the fridge. Water tastes better and the children are drinking more water as a result which is fantastic.
Several testers in hard water areas also noticed a difference when using the filtered water for hot drinks.

Anything to bear in mind?
As with any real-life product test, feedback was balanced. Some testers felt the instructions could be clearer, and a few mentioned that the lid or filter indicator felt fiddly. Others wanted more information about replacement filter costs.
