NHS and Unsocial Hours

Hi All

Looking for some advice!

I work 28 hours per week for the NHS (band 3). I do these hours Monday to Thursday. I have been offered overtime on Sundays.

I understand that for over time pay (time and a half etc) this only applies over and above 37.5 hours so I would be paid plain hours until this point. However, are these hours on Sunday subject to unsociable hours pay even before I hit 37.5 hours?

Could you do them as bank hours and then you would get the additional. SUNDAY payment.
For example I do a second NHS job in the evening which is contracted at 7 hours. If I do an extra bank shift on a Sunday I get the Sunday rate.

I would call payroll and check your options.

You will still get enhancements however you're right in saying no overtime.

Therefore you will get basic pay for the additional hours and then unsociable enhancements for the hours that apply, normally paid a month in arrears.

Not sure how it works for you, but for us if I do unsocial overtime (nights or weekends) then I just get paid the overtime rate... our unsocial is based purely on basic hours rather than shifts by choice!

But equally i am not on section2, and i believe there may be some leeway on that from what colleagues have said...

I’ve never worked 37.5 , always part time , whenever I have worked weekends I always receive enhancements. It’s not overtime.
Sunday is slightly more than a Saturday. I guess all Trusts are different, I get time and a third for a Saturday and time and two thirds Sunday.
