I just came across an item online about a Fake News article by a satirical site, back in 2014, claiming that Qatar banned Saudis and Emiratis from shopping in Harrods.

That led me to wondering about Harrods' policy on toilets and changing rooms, and on what impact it might have on their profits if that policy turned out to be based on self id.

Women need to find allies wherever possible, even if that support is based on patriarchal ideas about women.

Why don't you ring Harrods and ask them?

Not in the UK

I know I'm living in fantasy land but I was remembering seeing limos outside various high end shops in London, with heavily veiled women trooping in to shop. Imagine if shops had to put notices at their entrance, warning devout Muslims and Jews that the changing rooms were not single sex? In fairness, I think that should be obligatory.

I see where you're coming from but I personally will not use the religion argument to back up protection for sex-based rights.

It's saying that one bunch of men (TRAs) can't tread all over women's rights because it conflicts with the way another bunch of men (religious ones) like to tread all over women's rights.

No other woman has an additional right or need to a sex segregated space than me because of her religion. My dignity, privacy and safety are equally important and equally at risk.

As a person of faith, myself, I agree with Antibles.

Religion, like transgenderism, is a faith, unfounded in science and reality.

Religion, like transgenderism, is heavily dependent upon conforming to stereotypes.

Religion, like transgenderism, is a choice.

Religion, like transgenderism, must not be imposed upon anyone.

The only way it should come into this debate is in accepting that the right to freedom of conscience and belief is enshrined in law.

Don't High End shops like this have special openings in these cases? In which case, if they are the only occupants in the shop, it isn't likely to be issue (as far as they are concerned) and I suspect they won't care unless it's hitting them in the wallet Sad

Hitting shops in the wallet if they refuse to provide single sex toilets and hanging rooms for women, that's what I'm thinking about.

Just as all those woke cafes etc have signs saying "No terfs allowed" (scarily reminiscent of the No Blacks No Irish signs of the past) how about signs to stick on shop windows saying 'No Single Sex Changing Rooms Or Toilets In This Shop' ? With translation in various languages underneath.

Changing, not hanging. Though I'm sure there are people who think hanging is too good for witches 😄
