Another crime recorded as committed by a woman and apparently it's under consideration whether this person should be sent to a women's prison.

You must be mistaken, Spread.

This never happens.

boatyardblues · 20/05/2019 23:23

When I saw Ella’s captioned photo at the head of the artice, I sensed a degree of frustration with reporting guidelines in the newsroom.

OccasionalKite · 20/05/2019 23:35

"A transgender ex-soldier has been jailed after she was caught with images of child rape and torture for the second time."

It's strange. That illustrative photograph at the top of that linked article appears to be a photograph of [surprise surprise!!] a man.

Popchyk · 20/05/2019 23:37

"She is a transgender father-of-two who was on a suspended sentence for committing identical offences when she was living in Plymouth in 2016 under his original identity as Daniel Reeves".

That paragraph features all sorts of misgendering that would get the journalist banned from Mumsnet. Father? His? Tsk.

No sign of the offender identifying as transgender when he was found guilty of possessing indecent images of young children three years ago.

Seems to be a case of Rapid Onset Prison Dysphoria. Again.

SpreadsheetQueen · 20/05/2019 23:49

I'm really struggling to pass comment, as almost anything sensible to say would get deleted. Makes crime statistics a total joke.

Going to Exeter, a male prison, for the time being. Permanent I hope.

Illyria47 · 21/05/2019 04:55

Man commits crime, man should go to male prison end of story.

MangoesAreMyFavourite · 21/05/2019 07:22

Do we need to track and follow these and raise individually with the prison authorities and police to make sure they are recorded as per the prevailing law of the land?

AncientLights · 21/05/2019 07:35

Mangoes there is a website that keeps track of crimes committed by trans people - 'transcrimes' or something like that. It'd be good if women in the constituency where such crimes are committed could take the opportunity to raise it with their MP.

ChattyLion · 21/05/2019 07:42

How is it even under consideration that this disgusting and dangerous man is put in with women?

MindTheMinotaur · 21/05/2019 07:44

Ancient the local MP, Luke Pollard, firmly and vocally believes transwomen are women and will not listen to women's concerns. He's the one who took a transwomen to parliament for the 'ask her to stand event'.

MindTheMinotaur · 21/05/2019 07:47

My mistake, the MP for that constituency is Johnny Mercer, not sure of his position on TWAW

truthisarevolutionaryact · 21/05/2019 07:48

ChattyLion
Incredible isn't it. Of course it's under consideration as trans lobby groups are (yet again) given unparalleled access to the Ministry of Justice who have cosy meetings with these experts in "being trans" who then get to decide which particular paedophiles, rapists, murderers, sex offenders and other categories of trans prisoners women must share their cells with.

Quite unbelievable but it happens.

LetsSplashMummy · 21/05/2019 07:50

I'd like to know how the public appeal was worded when they were on the run.

Surely asking the public to look out for a woman, in this case, would not be a very effective way of gathering sightings.

nettie434 · 21/05/2019 07:59

Grr - meant to say no person convicted of indecent images of children would ever prefer to be in a woman's prison unless they had gender dysphoria

nettie434 · 21/05/2019 08:03

My post has got all jumbled -

Seems to be a case of Rapid Onset Prison Dysphoria.

Smile *Popchyk!

SarahTancredi · 21/05/2019 08:06

It's that thing that never happens again

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/05/2019 08:26

Police raided the house where he was living in Dukes Place, Paignton, on August 31, 2017 and seized her Samsung mobile Oops!

bigbadbadger · 21/05/2019 08:29

A man downloads images of children being abused and raped then claims to be transgendered to avoid male prison. Why won't the press tell the truth?

ChattyLion · 21/05/2019 08:39

And the judge said something waffly about it being difficult or hard for him to send this despicable man to a male prison ‘for obvious reasons’ or something. WTF?

leeloo1 · 21/05/2019 08:46

"Mr Barry White, defending, said Davies suffers from severe psychiatric problems arising from her gender dysphoria, and was sectioned in 2017. He is autistic and had been diagnosed with severe depression."

is it OK to possess and make disgusting pictures of toddlers being raped if you're transgender, autistic or depressed then? Thank goodness this person doesn't have access to their own children anymore.

leeloo1 · 21/05/2019 08:47

I'm glad that it was reported as x who used to be known as y though. It makes it clearer what the sex of the offender is.

ChattyLion · 21/05/2019 08:49

Apologies I should not have misrepresented the judge in my above post. This is what the newspaper said the judge said:

"I accept your experience of custody may be more challenging for you than for others, for obvious reasons."

Davies will start her sentence at the all-male Exeter Prison and it will then be up to the prison service to decide whether to transfer her to a male or female prison.

Mr Tom Bradnock, prosecuting, said Davies was made subject to a two-year suspended sentence at Plymouth Crown Court in 2016 for 12 similar offences.

Jesus wept. Why do the prison service have these powers to decide? What danger is a man like this likely to be to male prisoners? What danger is he likely to be for female prisoners (some of whom will have their babies and kids under 3 in with them)

Exactly the same age group that this man was watching be sexually abused and raped on repeated occasions.

Sorry but this is an insane idea.

Women prisoners need to bring some kind of class action on the prison service for endangering them and their kids where they are putting these men in with them. It’s absolutely horrific and mentally abusive to women to make them accommodate men like this.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 21/05/2019 10:27

He said Davies was sent on a sex offenders' course in 2016 but was unable to complete it because of her gender issues and had received some one-to-one treatment from the probation service instead.

I hope the probation services are assessing how effective their one to one treatment is.

I wonder if the 'gender issues' were diagnosed by a professional, or the probation services relied on self id?

LangCleg · 21/05/2019 10:48

I hope the probation services are assessing how effective their one to one treatment is.

That would be the privatised probation services who are having to be taken back into state control because of across the board failure?

Thank you again, Chris Useless Grayling.
