Just that, really. Am fed up with men who don't close the door in unisex toilets, and at this point I don't really care if it's because they are lazy thoughtless bastards or because they want that "oh dear, silly me, I'd forgotten to lock the door" moment when strangers see their dick.

Today's example: was in a CAHMS building, ie somewhere that is expressly designed to be full of vulnerable children and teenagers. One unisex accessible loo. Yet another bloody man who "forgot" to lock it. Terribly apologetic, of course.

At least this guy closed the door. It's so common that they don't even bother to do that.

Fuck him. Fuck them all. I am so fed up with it.

Please post your concrete examples here. Because unisex loos are so marvellous for everyone, aren't they?

I used a Unisex loo/shower room in a Hostel. I could see the feet of several men under the door as i showered as they stood directly outside. They also crowded right round me watching me as i brushed my teeth at the sinks.

We have single unisex toilets at work. I’ve never walked in on a man but the mess and stench they leave behind is something else.

I visited Fort Nelson in Portsmouth with my daughters. In the Visitor Centre they only had unisex toilets. I went from one to another. They all had the seats left up, urine on the floor, unflushed. You'd have to get your hands covered with someone else's urine and do a clear up job before you could attempt to pee. Absolutely hideous and no place for women and girls to go to the toilet. Fort Nelson is owned by Hampshire County Council and is run by Royal Armouries.

I've had that exact same experience.

I opened a train unisex toilet door, aged 14, to find a man pissing in the sink.

WHY WHY COULDN'T HE HAVE USED THE LOO?

I was going to rush past, thinking I'd never noticed anything untoward in unisex toilets, but actually I've opened unlocked doors to pissing men on several occasions. Didn't think anything of it but, funnily enough, functioning locks in women's toilets usually show as engaged when someone's behind the door.

Does piss all over the floor and seat in unisex loos count? Makes me not want to use them.

I teach in an sen school. We take the children swimming a lot and have to use mixed change areas for some children as they have to be separate to the other children for various reasons. We also go in and have to change. There are small private school change rooms too, this is on top of those. Eg parents of a Muslim girl requested she change in a cubicle, challenging as she needed support but visuals were used etc. Other reasons might be managing behaviour.

We have had a couple of cases of men deliberately timing their swim with school sessions to gawk. Pool staff knew and kept an eye as much as possible.

A member of staff who used the same pool to swim at was subjected to voyerism. Bloke was watching her change under the cubicle. He was actually caught and it did go to court.

Risk assessments stipulate that children are accompanied to the female or preferably disabled toilets only for these reasons.

Interestingly one extra inside with a female only symbol on. The rest have the m/f symbols on the doors.

When we had mixed sex there was
Piss over the floor, toilet seat up, no toilet brush used - this was on a daily basis.
Male in front of me didn't wash his hands.
We put polite notices up, but they were ignored. We even had a word, but that was ignored.

Got to the point I stopped going. Even on my period, which sounds grim I know (I'd end up going into another building)

Guess what? Now the toilets are single sex and they are clean.

This isn't really what we are talking about, poor man might have just had some bad news, this sounds horribly unsympathetic.

The Everyman cinema in Leeds refunded our tickets after I had to clean a toilet for dd to use and found a man urinating with the door open when I went during the film.
I was filmed changing at todmorden sports centre, in the uni sex changing village. The staff questioned whether I was right and didn’t help until the police arrived, and only then because my 4 year Old had been naked with me.

Ahh I don't know how to feel about this. Because I don't think I feel the same way about trans people as a lot of people here do. But I personally will avoid unisex loos at all costs. Not because I think somone is going to perv on me but because they are so fucking dirty. As pp's have said ; piss everywhere, possibly shit everywhere, seats up, no handwashing and bad smells. I wonder if a mix of unisex and female loos could work?
I have very heavy periods and tmi... It can be a bit of a bloodbath when I'm changing. I really can't be doing that in a toilet with piss on the seat and floor. Also I have experienced a lack of sanitary bond in unisex loos.

This is a red herring, BuildBuildings. as this thread is not about trans, it's about males. I don't want to share toilet facilities with males, whether they identify as men or identify as something else. In my OP I had no reason to believe that the man who left the door unlocked yesterday identified as anything other than a man (but in these days when "transition" can be just changing your name, who knows). None of the other posts apart from yours has reference trans people.

I'm absolutely fine with sharing toilet facilities with other female-bodied people, and that includes female-bodied people who identify as trans. Which is just as well, really, because most transmen DO use women's loos, when they are available.

Yup had loads of experiences like this of unisex toilets being in a terrible condition and doors not being locked by men.

This is why women- unless absolutely desperate- will try to avoid:
those unisex toilet plastic ‘pods’ in major footfall street in big cities, (also note how big cities offer pop up street urinals for the men and nothing for women?), also tend to avoid where possible those unisex toilets provided on trains, and wait until we get to the station to use the single sex loos and so on.
It’s bad enough using the toilets on a plane which are only ever unisex in my experience and that is one of the most under scrutiny type of toilet environment possible- there is still wee everywhere because men will apparently self-combust unless they stand up to piss, yet none of them can aim or clean up after themselves.

I've posted about this before, but the row of unisex loos in Camden market - somewhere frequented by many teenage girls - always have some bloke in there with the door wide open. Fuck them.

Before all of this kicked off, I used to go to a pool to do aqua aerobics for an hour then I'd swim for an hour. During that time a girl's gym class from the local high school would have their swim session. One man would literally sit in the water watching them - just staring, no swimming. If people think men don't do this kind of thing they are hopelessly naive. Sorry for the slight derail from the true purpose of the thread.

Filthy toilets, piss and shot all over the place isn't a men only thing - it's a public toilet thing. (I say this sitting in a women's toilet in our local hospital that is MINGING!)

To my knowledge Chrisco does not ID as trans. I am including some links to his various crimes and enterprises here as he is worthy of study and scrutiny by anyone with an interest in protecting safe spaces for women.

He is also of very significant interest as someone who aspired to reach the dizzy heights of a tantric / goddess spirituality sex cult leader but who ended up in jail. I don't feel safe in unisex toilets.
So I tend to not use them.
It's the only time I get UTIs.

I remember going to Go Feminist conference. They made the ground floor women's toilet unisex. The men's was still single sex.

Due to the nature of the conference (was intended to be intersectional) there were lots of wheelchair -users in attendance so I didn't want to keep the accessible loo busy.
But I could not manage the stairs to the upstairs toilet.

I realize it's unlikely anyone would have shouted at me if I had used an accessible toilet but I'm autistic and things deviating from the norm can take me a long time to think through.

They're fucking animals. Literally. I've both had to use, against my wishes (no other segregated toilets or washing facilities) unisex bathrooms and showers as well as being a cleaner for both male and female toilets and it is absolutely fucking disgusting and awful. Pubes on the floor and toilet seat where they wank, piss everywhere (literally everywhere), shit stains, leaving the door open, and one time waiting for me to come out of the shower so he could give me a long look up and down and commented on how delicious I was looking in my towel. It's vile, they're vile, it's just horrible.
