It's about violation. If they just wanted to watch women use the toilet, there are thousands of opportunities to do so via live cam sites (not saying this is good thing, obviously, but it's a fact). Hiding cameras is specifically about violating women's privacy for sexual thrills.

He isn't contesting the fact that his DNA was found on the device. That isn't his defense, its in the link.

I can’t see anything in the links either way.. didn’t his defence Counsel (quite rightly) decline to comment, other than to say the Prosecution’s case is weak?

It is a bit odd though that he would plant a camera in an Embassy toilet, when surely the whole place is regularly swept for bugs etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if the toilets were not all somehow involved in surveillance given that they would be a place for someone to quickly change identity, pass documents to someone, etc (watches too much Homeland).
