Discussing Meghan Murphy and Kathleen stock, the observer has a piece on how shutting down debate as hate speech isn’t a good thing

Is this a message to his employer?

HamiltonCork · 25/11/2018 09:08

A bit rich coming from the Observer!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 25/11/2018 09:19

That's actually an excellent piece.

stillathing · 25/11/2018 19:29

Is the Observer feeling OK?

Badmoonsarising · 25/11/2018 19:52

Be interesting to know what their reaction was to the slating they got from their US counterparts on their horrendous transphobia.

hackmum · 25/11/2018 19:54

The Observer isn’t anywhere near as in thrall to the TRAs as the Guardian. They occasionally display signs of sanity, such as this.

The link shows the article ss being in The Guardian - maybe I’m missing something

NotTerfNorCis · 25/11/2018 21:22

Well done Observer.

welshbookworm · 25/11/2018 21:50

One Guardian leader advising caution when thinking about GRA reform is hardly what I'd call horrendous transphobia. I thought the US 'slating' was almost laughably over the top, given that one has to look hard to find any output even slightly gender-critical in the Guardian, with the honorable exception of Hadley Freeman.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 25/11/2018 22:09

Interesting.

I'd like him to give an example of an 'unreasonable argument' from the GC side in his opinion.

PebbleDashed · 25/11/2018 22:35

I've always liked the Observer, get it most weeks. Always intelligent, usually fairly balanced as far as i can judge, and well named.
Any chance of getting paid for that public compliment? Grin

They share a website. Basically they're part of the same brand, are owned by the same people, and share offices, but they have different editors and staff.
