As above! Fed up of my dressing gown and just want a zip up fleecy hooded bed jacket. Not easy to find one though.

Please recommend Smile

Not zipped, but so soft and fluffy and really comfortable. I have just bought a second one (NB do not tumble dry)

Thanks @sparkysalmon I have seen these in Sainsbury's and may have to get one.

I've had one before the same material but it done up like a normal dressing gown.

Anyone else got any recommendations?

The men's section in Tesco had some very snugly fleeces and pyjama tops etc.
I recently discovered that the men's jumpers were 100% cotton or with a substantial wool content, much, much better than the women's. I'm 5'8" size 14 and hate tops that are too short (i.e., 90% of women's tops!) I was quite tempted by a very cosy looking zip up fleece, I'll see if I can find it....

I use a fleece jacket from Lands End. It buttons up.

Bed jackets? What a wonderful invention! I had never heard of them, but now I desperately need one. Maybe even two :-)

Bed jackets?! That's something I haven't thought about for many years. Do they still exist?

I was at boarding school, and when you were ill, and had to stay in the Infirmary, you were issued with a bed jacket. Woolly, with buttons and a collar; same as a school issue dressing gown, but shorter.

Surely nowadays you just wear a random fleece?

Forgot to say, I have a fleece with a full-length zip from Uniqlo which does the job.

You can always get a bed jacket or two in Dunnes. They're very reliable on "nightwear you can wear in hospital" Grin

I've been wearing a cardigan. I really want a bed jacket now and the purple one from Dunnes (of whom I have never heard) is what I want. I shall be chatting to my dds!
I remember my Grandmother having a bed jacket and thinking it a very old fashioned thing, back in the 1960s!

I just ordered this 'home coat' as a gift for someone. It arrived today and is really lovely!

I got a lovely soft one from M&S for my mum a couple of years ago, it was purple and button up.
I got myself one from I think Damart, and MIL asked if she could have it!
They are really useful as you can sit in bed and read/mnet and they keep you warm without the bulk of a dressing gown.

If I am reading in bed I put my cosy dressing gown on back to front above the covers. Keeps my arms cosy but really easy to slip off when I have finished reading.

I bought a lovely long cashmere cardi in TK maxx. Was £50 in the dregs of the sale but heavenly to wear and light too. I machine wash it —once every six months— on the delicates setting in a pillow case and dry flat on a towel and it’s still in great shape.

Pinkie I hope you enjoy your new bed hoodie. But you see that would drive me mad, I would have to cut off the pom-poms for a start, would hate the zip and would be irritated by the hood!

Each to their own ey?

On a slight tangent. The Hot Water Bottle. An endangered species*?

Discuss.

Freebutton, I bought a lovely cashmere throw in TKMaxx, one of those OMG bargains you get sometimes, it is so cosy on those nights when an extra layer is needed. Sadly a bastard moth had a little nibble at it, but tiny weeny holes so not too bad. in revenge I have decimated the moths family, no mercy.

  • not in my house!
