Petition against ChangeUK​.​org for Censorship of Women

ChangeUK.org has decided that a petition to the Body Shop Inc. asking the franchise to stop calling women “Menstruators” should be censored because it may be offensive to people who do not believe females should be agitate for their rights as an oppressed group. Such as asking not to be called by their body parts or bodily functions, a common method of humiliating or threatening women. Historically women have been oppressed by just such objectification. ChangeUK.org is supporting both the silencing of women’s concerns and voices, and censorship in general. The denial of public platforms to minorities is a long-standing tactic of oppressor societies and supports patriarchal structures that hurt minorities. We ask that ChangeUK.org relist the petition and support free speech for everyone.

Hi

First of all its not my petition, but i posted a link here because of problems of having a petition in FWR where I had posted a news story about this. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3946707-Dont-call-us-menstruators-petition-taken-down-by-Change-org

In fact the original petition is now in this part of Mumsnet talk as it was moved by MNHQ from FWR (its all very confusing) www.mumsnet.com/Talk/petitions_noticeboard/3942329-Petition-Body-Shop-Dont-call-us-menstruators
