Family film night

We seem to have accidentally started a family film night with DS who is 4.7, so I'm after inspiration for suitable films.
DS prefers "action" films (Home Alone 1 and 2 and Superman have been highlights).
I think ET and Star Wars would be a bit scary still?

Not action but the films mine loved in young childhood and watched over and over were;
Parent Trap
Cheaper by the Dozen
Jungle Book
The Greatest Show on Earth ( or Holly The Circus as it is called here)
Home Alone
The Incredibles/ Monsters Inc/Toy Story
Meet me in St Louis
I had a wide age range and very different characters so we were always looking to find something that everyone could enjoy. The above films lasted us for years.

We have family movie night each Sunday, although our kids are a bit older, so some of these might just be ideas to add to the list.

We take it in turns to be the one to choose, and some of ours have included:

Star Wars (I'm not a fan, but DH has been indoctrinating both DD and DD since the eldest was about 4)
Indiana Jones series
Home Alone
Some oldies, like The Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Back to the Future
Jungle Book
Greatest Showman
A few different Asterix ones
Black Beauty
Mrs Doubtfire
Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, etc
The Whale Rider
Mamma Mia (the story line goes right over their head!)

Today my 4 & 7 year old girls watched Jurassic Park for the first time (7 year old's choice)

7 year old was fine, as we'd already played through Lego Jurassic World together so she knew what to expect (probably why she picked it).

4 year old sat giggling at all of the dinosaurs, good and bad (she's going to be trouble as she gets older...)

A definite success, which has opened up their other film options considerably

Star Wars won't be scary, but their attention may wander and they may struggle to keep up with whos good or bad

Paddingtons and Lego movie good

All pixar type films

If you want a break from action, try the English dub (if you can live with the voices) of My Neighbour Totoro
