Just that. It's way too long (white stuff, £4 from a charity shop)stretchy t shirt material and I want to wear it tonight. How?

Wonderwebb is your friend.

Iron on some Wonder Web

Wonder Web! Amazing stuff you just iron on. Should be available in a hobby kind of shop, probably supermarkets too. Sometimes called hemming tape.

You probably will have to resort to webbing even if you wanted to sew it. Jersey needs a sewing machine with a certain stitch foot to accommodate material with stretch. Go with the wonderweb!

I'll do it for you, I like sewing. If you're in North Wales bring it round. Grin

Dry cleaners?

Bluesheep8 · 25/05/2019 07:31

luckylou that's so kind! Thanks for the hemming tape tip everyone, I'll try to get some, will hopefully find it in a supermarket.

The hemming tape didn't work! I followed the instructions to the letter and it all came unstuck immediately unfortunately. Will ironing over it again work? Confused

If it’s jersey (T-shirt fabric) I would cut the dress to the right length . It won’t fray and raw edge is quite ok.
Cut it a bit longer than you want in case it curls a little .

Bluesheep8 · 26/05/2019 14:30

Thanks trumpton, I did cut it before hemming with the Wonderwebb so maybe that could be ok.

Sounds like a plan !
I recently bought a dress with a raw hem and sleeve edges .
