Facebook Marketplace is my downfall, but I am clearly too soft a touch/gullible/trusting.

I've had building work done and there are fairly large jobs left undone before the builder fucked off and went incommunicado.

I bought a £30, secondhand, cordless drill, with what appeared to be one working battery - to find even that didn't work properly. It barely made it through one DIY job.

Today, after my feet have been playing up, I bought a pair of what appeared to be pristine secondhand, barely worn MBT shoes for £15.

Thrilled to have them, I wore them back into town (after two hour round bus trip) to find the soles were disintegrating when I was wandering around a shop.

Yup, turns out crumbling MBT polyurethane soles are a 'thing'.

I can't seem to spot the shysters and have lost sums of money varying from less than £20 to thousands.

I thought I did my research, inspected the items carefully, kept an eye on workmen and so on.

I keep thinking that I'm doing it right.

If that's the case, why the fuck am I looking up shoe repairs on the internet?

I know that if it's too good to be true then it's too good to be true, but it was a secondhand pair of shoes.

Instead of carrying on with my day, I'm eating too much junk and feeling miserable.

I need to stay off Facebook Marketplace. Blush Angry Sad

I'll be back to read any replies, I need to get some washing on......
