Christmas

Harrods grotto

We went last night after school for our Harrods Father Christmas slot. It was the 8th year in a row that we have been and it was definitely the best one to date. Very cheerful and authentic Father Christmas (have had some right grumpy ones in the past) and better things to keep the DCs occupied in the queue. So, enjoy - all those who have visits booked! Thank you, I am taking DD(8) in a few weeks, doing it with the afternoon tea thing. Excited!

Totally agree, best yet in 8 years! Santa gave me a hug! No queue to get in and the staff in queue were so entertaining.

And when my DS7 asked for a french bulldog, Santa looked at me and when I gave a little shake of my head he told my DS7 that he can't transport livestock....excellent!

I'm so glad to hear this as we're going next week.

Were you allowed to take pics?

We're going in a couple of weeks.

We missed last year's, but the year before that Santa insisted on having my mother in the photo Grin

And when he asked if we'd travelled far, he was able to name loads of towns around our own. I was nearly convinced myself Shock

You pay £10 for a photo Nix, and are not supposed to take your own.

I'm not sure they'd actually break cover to stop you, but I'm a wuss.

You can take photos in the queue part and you can take your own photos in the sleigh that they have set up there just before you go in. In the room itself with FC only official photo allowed.

Thanks, yes, I love to take pics of the build up and grotto.

Didn't I read somewhere that we're credited the £10 admin charge on the day or am I imagining that?

You get the £10 back to spend in store, but you can't use it towards photos.

You can use it on chocolate though Xmas Grin

Do you need ID to get in? Or just your eticket.

Just your eTicket.

Whenever we've been, they've been pretty strict about timing though.

We've been fifteen minutes early, and told to wander around for a while before coming back. They don't like a crush Grin

Second OP. we went last night & it was magical. I was dewy-eyed & DS was transfixed. Father Christmas held my hand. I left believing!
