Anyone wanting to support greens but really stuck on their trans beliefs and policies?

I haven’t heard anything else that I disagree with, but I’m so disappointed by the outright ‘trans women are women statement’ and consequent policies. In my view this attitude doesn’t fit with the other green policies. Here we are saying that women are an unimportant subspecies, and that the wants of a very small number of trans identifying males trump the rights and needs of all the actual females.

How is anyone squaring this in their minds? Can you bring yourself to vote Green?

The person who stood for the Greens in our ward at the most recent elections for councillors is a bloke. Father to a 3yo son.
Not a chance can I vote Green.
or Labour, my usual choice.
or Tory, because obviously.
or Reform,
or Lib dem.
which leaves nobody in my area. :(

This for me is the worst part of it. They’re not focused primarily on the environment whilst having a TWAW viewpoint as a side issue. They have made gender ideology absolutely central. They talk about it constantly and passionately. So not only are they no longer a “green” party, they are zealots, and I believe that even when genderwoo has generally died down in society, they will still be at it.

This.

I'm the sort of person you might imagine wanting to vote Green. We have solar panels, recycle everything, have trugs to save shower water, cycle and walk everywhere to avoid car use, grow our own veg on an allotment etc etc. Environmental issues are of real weight to us.

But I am a woman, a mother of daughters and also like functioning government and councils.

Any party who has Maggie Chapman in it needs a very very very hard swerve.

Focusing on trans people, a vulnerable minority, and using that as a reason to ignore every other socially aware and actively positive policy the greens have is shameful. They are constantly attacked, online and in real life. You should be ashamed. The greens are much more than trans rights, but trans people shouldn’t be anyone’s punching bag.

Your post has to be a joke, @surprisebaby12 . Firstly, males are not 'vulnerable' nor a 'minority'. They are the predator and oppressor sex class. Rebadging some as 'trans' only heightens that Male Privilege. And the fact that trans as a hole has managed to systematically re-order society and remove womens rights in less than a decade shows the enormous power they wield. They are the most privileged, most powerful and most protected group there is. They are the ones who are constantly attacking women online and in real life; giving us rape threats, death threats, threatening to punch a terf, to stab us, to curb stomp us and burn us alive. Trans are the most powerful and untouchable Sacred Caste there is, so no, you're the one who should be ashamed, not us. The female sex should not be powerful and privileged trans punching bag in all their pursuit of Male Supremacy.

Well I'm in Scotland and the Scottish Greens have told me they don't want my vote unless I agree that TWAW: "Co-leader Gillian Mackay said not backing the idea was ‘probably a red line for us’ and it was ‘a matter of basic human decency’" Hmm I suspect they have announced this so they can claim that any votes for them are a mandate for TWAW, in the way that the SNP say that any vote for them is a vote for independence. Of course, this is completely underhand as there will be many Green voters who are unaware of this statement and think they are voting for the planet.

Has anyone knowledge of policies of green parties in other countries? Do any of them have a better grip on how to run a country?

In Germany, the Green party has (mostly) been in parliament since the 1980s (both national and of the various German countries one administrative level lower). I don't remember when it started but they have been part of various coalition governments for many years.
They did good work in lawmaking with regard to air and nature pollution, a move to include regenerative energy and other typical green topics. But meanwhile, most other parties took up "classic" green topics (the environment), too, and it is not their distinctive feature anymore.

Similarly to the UK, the past years they've moved very left, where they were in their founding years, too - against the state, and trans is a religion.

The recent co-leader of the Green Youth party, Jette Nietzard (stepped down now) wore an "ACAB" shirt on Instagram and according to media reports trash talked the Green environmental youth politicians (interwoven with Fridays For Future & Co.) and wanted to focus much more on radical left topics, everyone's a victim, Palestine etc.
When she was confronted in an interview with what would she say to a father whose daughter was randomly killed by a rejected asylum seeker who was still in the country (this is a real case from Germany), she was just babbling, couldn't even bring herself to express condolences or accepting that it was a serious matter. It just didn't fit her reality.

Alpacajigsaw · 12/11/2025 22:30

They don’t want my vote, so hey ho.

StrongLikeMamma · 12/11/2025 22:57

Who will you all vote for then ?

Heggettypeg · 12/11/2025 23:04

I'm no fan of bad private landlords, but the thought of all available housing (for people who can't afford to buy) being in the gift of the kind of people who think you should be cancelled, sacked and hounded for Wrongthink, gives me the creeps. Imagine being a known GC woman in need of a council flat in Bristol after private landlords have been abolished.

LeftieRightsHoarder · 12/11/2025 23:25

I'm actually a Green Party member, and I don't vote for them any more. The environment and animal welfare come way down the agenda. Top priority (as far as I can see) is the transgenderist project of dismantling women's rights, followed by all the other tick-box currently fashionable causes. I wish they'd set up their own party instead of taking over the only one that used to prioritise our planet and all its inhabitants.

@surprisebaby12 This is not about using anyone who is trans as a punching bag.

Not at all.

It is about recognising and protecting the sex based rights of women in contexts where women are vulnerable to make bodied people.

And the Greens are not prepared to recognise or protect women’s sex based rights.

See the pp about the Scottish Greens voting against a female rape victim being allowed to opt for a female to examine her.

Voted green in the past but they switched to wanting open borders and I can’t agree. So it’s not just one policy that’s a problem.

https://migration.greenparty.org.uk/migration-policy/

The Green Party in government will:

  1. Implement a fair and humane system of managed immigration
  2. Treat all migrants as if they are citizens
  3. Give all residents the right to vote
  4. Help families to be together
  5. Dismantle the Home Office
  6. Abolish the No Recourse to Public Funds condition
  7. Abolish the ten year route to settlement
  8. Stop the profiteering from application fees
  9. Stop putting people in prison because of their immigration status
  10. Accept our responsibility for the climate emergency and support the people forced to move

I'm not anti immigration but that's fucking ridiculous.

RedToothBrush · 12/11/2025 23:40

I'd actually support more green policies from any party if they were coherent.

I'm really not seeing it from anyone.

Interesting as what prompted my post was his social media clip saying, ‘Don’t agree with one of our policies? Join us anyway as we value all views and everyone has an equal vote so join us and let’s discuss it’

'Join anyway, as we desperately need your subs to defend the various court cases on the horizon for us discriminating against our own members'.

...voted against victims of rape being able to chose the sex of their medical examiner,

Why? Surely you have to be incredibly psychotic and cold hearted not to understand that it is decent and humane to support people who have been raped with as much dignity and compassion that we can provide?

The Scottish Greens voted en masse against the amendment designed to allow rape survivors to request a female Forensic Medical Examiner -

https://www.holyrood.com/editors-column/view,six-little-words-for-the-word-gender-substitute-sex

Scottish Green MSP's were given a whip to vote against the amendment, leading Andy Wightman to later leave the Scottish Greens in protest -

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-55361550.amp

The Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre who were the subject of a scathing independent report which showed that they had 'caused harm to rape survivors' was presided over by no other than Maggie Chapman of the Scottish Greens, who allowed Mridul Wadhwa to take up a position which had been advertised as an occupational requirement, under the EQA 2010.

The Scottish Greens utterly despise women.

Six little words: for the word ‘gender’ substitute ‘sex’

Those six little words encapsulate much of the debate on what it means to be a woman over the last two years

https://www.holyrood.com/editors-column/view,six-little-words-for-the-word-gender-substitute-sex

Waitwhat23 · 13/11/2025 19:02

The Scottish Greens are also just shite at actual environmental issues. Every time I walk past one of unused, mouldering DRS units in Aldi car parks all over Scotland, I have to resist the urge to kick it.

Anyone wanting to support greens but really stuck on their trans beliefs and policies?

Thank you for posting this. It's unbelievable. I am gobsmacked. Definitely won't be voting for them.

Reminds me of when Mridul Wadhwa left the SNP in high dudgeon after the Forensic Medical Examiners Bill vote in order to defect to the Scottish Greens, feeling that the SNP weren't quite women hating enough for him.

It doesn't say much for the Green party that the worst of other parties naturally gravitate to them.

No!

Imagine being the refuge of these men who put so much energy, time and venom into their misogyny.

I formally complained the Labour Party about LRM behaviour with Ben Bradshaw when Miriam Cates spoke. Don't think they bothered to reply.
