Anyone wanting to support greens but really stuck on their trans beliefs and policies?

I haven’t heard anything else that I disagree with, but I’m so disappointed by the outright ‘trans women are women statement’ and consequent policies. In my view this attitude doesn’t fit with the other green policies. Here we are saying that women are an unimportant subspecies, and that the wants of a very small number of trans identifying males trump the rights and needs of all the actual females.

How is anyone squaring this in their minds? Can you bring yourself to vote Green?

Oh you should hear his views on career women .who in his view .abandon their babies in nursery..he dislikes his sister for this reason
And he told me years after I'd had DC ,that he was always going to gave a wife who stayed home as a SAHM .
Then I think back to all the childminders and nurserys we viewed and he refused..and how I am indeed a SAHM .
And he said if I get a job ,make sure it is enough to cover all bills and mortgage and Christmas and holidays.. because if I'm not prepared to stay home and look after the children he will pack his job in and look after them
Then ...he absolute corker he came out with ...when I got an interview to work with autistic young adults...he said ...what kind of woman leaves her own autistic children at home to go and look after some one else's .

Agreed OP. They're great on everything but this in my opinion. My view is that they are not going to have any sway on this issue, the tide has turned.

So I'm GC but have joined and will campaign cos overall their policies and the positive impact they will have on women, as well as other stuff, far outweighs stupid statements about transwomen which don't actually reflects the party's politics and how female dominated it had always been.

Don't get me wrong, some candidates I would NEVER support but the more I've been involved the more normal I see most greens are and many are like us and are just putting up with TWAW until it blows over which it will.

Meantime though we do need this left wing and hopeful voice on everything else as the climate crisis, poverty and far right need tackling

Only the right kind of women (ie the ones who think men can be women) are successful in the Green Party, at least at National level. Women in the Green Party who stand up for women's rights end up being suspended or expelled.

If you like the other policies but also care about women, please join Green Party Women and Green Women's Declaration to support the women fighting against the misogynistic, authoritarian TRAs in GPEW.

You can’t trust anyone who believes TWAW. It just shows that they are completely out of their tree.

You know he's emotionally and financially abusive, don't you?

And with that in mind you know you should be packing his bags for him, don't you?

This isn't about the green party, but it does highlight what type of man supports the green party.

Jesus, what kind of dictator won't allow someone to work because of their sex? What a maniac Sad

Tiddler1976 · 22/11/2025 08:20

I can’t and won’t vote for any party that seeks to dismantle protections for single sex spaces. It almost doesn’t matter what other policies they offer as the loss of women’s safety and privacy is so fundamental to the society I want to live in, that it’s my priority when I vote now.

For those on twitter, zak musing on how the greens can get gender critical women to vote for them while also telling them they're wrong

Wee video from Shaunyboy about the Scottish Greens -

Which reminded me of the time that Lorna Slater walked out of a disussion in the Scottish Parliament when asked to clarify statistics which had been found to be misleading and incorrect -

Cycleorrun · 22/11/2025 13:31

I will not vote for any party that does not support women's rights to single sex spaces. Which rules out the Green Party for sure.

A few things worry me about the Greens:

Polanski has implied that he will revert the high court judgement by changing the equality act to include transgender women, the judges would then interpret the law differently.

They want to campaign for the right of self-identification for trans and non-binary people.

They are very much in favour of hate crime legislation for the categories of trans people, Islamophobia etc.

They want to ban petrol and diesel cars.

They are against small scale nuclear reactors that I think are the best way to produce non carbon energy.

They want to legalise all drugs

They want to legislate to put landlords out of business through increased regulation and taxation

They are a lot further left than Labour but copy definitely come to power in a Left wing alliance.

SwirlyGates · 22/11/2025 17:39

@PeachOctopus I suspect a lot of their growing support is due to populist statements like "tax the rich", "landlords are evil". The number of poor people is higher than the number of rich people, and the number of renters is higher than the number of landlords. Also, the number of stupid people is higher than the number of intelligent people.

Even if they kill the Equality Act, they still potentially have a problem with the Human Rights Act. And Health and Safety act.

Now they would be a junior member in any coalition. There still would be a lot of Labour MPs who would be very nervous of changing the Equality Act.

Any changes to law would still need to get a majority in parliament. This is where I see issues - the Greens would have to make it a precondition of a coalition and Labour would have to 3 line whip to ensure it passed. That's not without considerable risk imo. If we are talking about a coalition government we are already talking about a government which doesn't have a big majority. That means the potential for a small rebellion on this subject aren't small. That could get interesting.

The idea that it would be really easy to do if the Green won election, just isn't reflective of how finely balanced politics are.

Reform would actually be delighted if the Greens did force this issue as it would be a full car crash.

Don't be overly concerned about any of that. In reality, and in practice, changing the equality act so that sex, as a protected category, is removed would have too many unthought through consequences, and would take up so much time and be subject to so much scrutiny. it would cripple any government that attempted to do it.

The rest of the policy list is also ridiculous and unrealistic ideological posturing.

miraxxx · 23/11/2025 11:41

DrMorbius · 11/11/2025 10:38

I truly don't understand anyone who votes green. It has always been a wasted vote. The only reason i can see to vote green, is to have a spoiled vote counted. I.e x number of people voted green, as a protest against the main parties. At least the vote is counted.

The green policies are generally ludicrously simplistic. It's the sort of stuff you see little kids saying on these TV programs. The greens are no different than the Monster Raving Looney party, with the notable exception that the MRL party, know they are being ridiculous.

Hard agree. They are the least serious political party ever.

Given the Islamic influence within the greens, I am not sure the relegation of women would be a concern to them.

Maybe, but my point is that it would be pragmatically a nightmare to implement.

The trouble is so were 'Brexit economics' and plenty of idiots voted for that.

CurlewKate · 24/11/2025 19:57

I think I’ve used the bus analogy before. A political party isn’t like a taxi that takes you straight to your door. It’s like a bus-so you get on the one that goes the closest to where you want to go.

Waitwhat23 · 24/11/2025 20:12

The Green Party are more like a Ghost Train ride - as you clutch onto your companion in horror, the carriage rocks from side to side, while poorly costumed ghosts jump out to wail 'TWAWooooh!' and 'women can have peeeennnnissses!'. You get to the end, sigh a sigh of relief that it's all over but then it starts again, more manic and at double the speed.
