Survey on culture in the UK - 'trans rights' questions

ArabellaSaurus · 08/11/2025 21:12

New survey

19% of people say 'trans rights have not gone far enough' in the UK.
39% say 'trans rights have gone too far'.

That's a really big change in the past five years.

'The proportion who say transgender rights have gone too far in the UK has more than doubled since 2020, from 17% to 39%, though overall there is still no public consensus on the issue, with 19% now saying transgender rights have not gone far enough, 27% saying they’ve gone as far as they should, and a further 15% not giving an opinion.
The proportion of people who say transgender rights have gone too far has doubled among all age groups – even 16-24s, where one in five (19%) now feel this way, compared with around one in 10 (9%) in 2020. However, young people are still more likely to say transgender rights have not gone far enough (36%).'

There’s probably something in your DHs observation, @Petitchat
quite a lot of the more activist TW do seem to identify not as women of their own age but as a ‘girl’. People can mock and reject the idea of ‘trans age’ but it does seem there’s some middle aged and older blokes who are trying for that impossibility as well as sex. (And that’s leaving out the ‘Stefonee’ type of fantasist).

No one wants to identify as a middle aged menopausal woman dashing between caring for elderly parents and carting stroppy teenagers about while wearing jeans and a practical coat where is the thrill in that? The last conversation I had with a stranger in a public loo was about a blocked toilet - where's the thrill in that?
Sexy young things in teeny skirts sharing sanpro and lipstick whilst giggling is way more thrilling.

It's like having a fantasy lover he's not going to be called Kenneth, wear y-fronts and drive a beige Ford Focus to his middle management accountancy job his he?
(Apologies to anyone who has a husband/ partner called Kenneth with a beige car - I'm sure he is bloody gorgeous 🤩).

But you do accept I really am a beetle don't you!

A female one though. I'd never claim to be a male beetle as that would just be ridiculous.

A Doebeetle, rather than a Stagbeetle.

Waitingfordoggo · 10/11/2025 13:56

@Petitchat Yes that’s exactly what it is with many of the middle aged male transitioners. And they also like the ludicrous trope of girls at slumber parties in skimpy PJs having pillow fights and doing facemasks (I never did those things but I imagine if any girls did, it was when they were around 12/13 years old.) Some of them talk about the ‘girlhood’ they missed out on that they now want to experience at age 55 or so. Just further evidence of fetish, isn’t it?

I admit I was sceptical at first, even though the gerbils and capybaras assured me the rumours were true.

After being hit on the back of the head by a stray Tunnocks wrapper meant for the bin one night I saw you in the flesh (Chitin? Shell?) for the first time, and was finally convinced 🪲😂

I blame @Hedgehogsrightsarehumanrights for the wrapper throwing. You can see my Tunnock's was still wrapped at the time of the incident.

I did think it was impressive you'd got that kind of throw in you, for having such little beetle arms! 😂

I forgive @Hedgehogsrightsarehumanrights for the blunt force Tunnocks wrapper to the head, I know she wasn't aiming at me really 😂

As far as I can see Gnasher (named after Dennis the Menace's dog?) has departed the building. I can't decide if he is a total fantasist, or just someone who came on here to wind you all up. I have to admit that the story about his sister and the TW with the tampons, was right out of the Jessica (Jonathan) Yaniv's storybook.

They have no clue about periods, do they? That not all menstruating women use tampons (though it's always tampons in these stories), that there are different kinds of tampons, that we don't hand out or ask for tampons or other sanitary protection from female strangers, never mind men, that women don't carry spares to hand out to randoms in the loos.... So many fails here.

That tampons left at the bottom of a bag disintegrate…

DH just came up with a theory.
When he was a young 'un he entered the ladies in a night club by mistake. Drinking? Ahem.....

Anyway, he remembers it was full of giggly chatting young ladies, doing hair and make up on each other, all very excitable (as many of us are when young)
HE was very embarrassed, mumbled an apology and shot out.

Now we're thinking, is this where the men (trans) have their ideas from, of how WE are in the ladies?
Do they think all women never mature, that we just stay like that? Giggly, excitable, hairstyling, make up, chatting in groups in the toilets.
Then add a few more fantasies such as giving tampons to each other.

"Women helping women"

This does ring true because people like Dylan Mulvaney do act in that way.

Loos are often the only quiet place where you can have a chat in a nightclub.

Outside of nightclubs, I've not seen women chat in loos.

Don't worry. It didn't happen. This is a popular fairy tale among TRAs

When I was younger, I definitely asked women if they had any tampons or pads on more than one occasion when I was caught out unexpectedly. It was only ever in a situation where I knew people and I can only recall doing it at work. It involved me going up to one person and asking if they had anything with them, then if they didn't, going to another person. I can honestly say that every person I asked was... a woman. At no point would I ever have asked a male, even if that male was wearing a dress. It was awkward enough anyway, so I would never have asked someone who couldn't possibly have periods.

Flipping it round the other way, I can't think of a scenario where anyone (male or female) somehow knew that I needed a tampon and proactively offered it to me. The very idea of it is ridiculous.

Well, I can think of one exception. The only scenario I can imagine with any legitimacy is that the person proactively handing out tampons is getting some kind of kick out of doing so. And I can't imagine a woman being that person, given how little fun periods actually are.

Edited to add: I've also been in situations where I've been asked. Again, I think it's just work. Funnily enough, no conversation has ever involved a male.

I also think I've probably asked and been asked by close friends when we've been away and out for the day e.g. do you have anything in your bag?But these conversations are based on mutual and obvious knowledge that the only reason to ask is because the person being asked is a woman.

PurpleBubble · 11/11/2025 07:58

If a random in a toilet offered me a tampon , I would think it was very weird but would probably take it so as not cause offense (and then dispose of it when out of sight).
particularly if the person offering was a man-

So, on the off chance the tampon episode is not entirely fictional, perhaps it could have happened like that?

I wouldn't even take it to dispose of discreetly (or otherwise)! I bet the act of taking it would be pure wank fodder in itself for him, so am I fuck going to be an unwilling participant in that in any way.

BonfireLady · 11/11/2025 16:50

If it was a random offer from a female, I'd think she was a bit odd, but generally well-meaning, and would probably take it then dispose of it discreetly. It's such an odd thing to do that I would be thinking that I don't really want a sanitary product from such a person.

If it was a random offer from a male (e.g. a TW), I'd naturally assume the worst motivation (because it's the only one I can think of) and would deliver my best poker face then say something like "no, you're alright thanks".

Ideally that would be enough to tread the narrow pathway between sounding appalled and sounding like I was fawning.... as I too would rather not be a participant in anyone's.... scenario.. if possible. And unfortunately sounding cross at the situation could do that just as much as sounding grateful.

So, on the off chance the tampon episode is not entirely fictional, perhaps it could have happened like that?

If it wasn't, I would assume it may have just been seen as an opportunity to show allyship i.e. the sister would have known it was a TW (obviously, or the story couldn't have been shared on this thread) and then could have decided that it was a great moment of "cis" solidarity to gratefully accept the tampon. If you've never heard of autogynophilia, and have been told how important it is to be kind, it does sound like a relatively plausible reaction.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 11/11/2025 16:59

As a rule of thumb, if you have to invent more than one unusual occurrance to show that an unlikely scenario could have happened, it probably didn't happen.

Probably didn't happen isn't enough for a jury needing proof beyond all reasonable doubt of course, but it's certainly enough for women to say "pull the other one mate, it's got balls bells on"

There is ZERO chance that I'm ever going to put something a bloke has given to me in a ladies toilet INTO MY BODY.

It could have his sperm, piss, saliva, battery acid, or anything else on it.
