this money will go towards CCTV, alarms and fencing round mosques….

Meanwhile there are SO MANY other areas of the country that are desperate for a financial boost….Why is this one religion put on a pedestal? This particular religion that doesn’t treat women as equals.

Government announces £10million to increase ghettoisation and protect abusers... Remember, in UK there should only be British communities - integrate or leave. Identity politics and Ghettoes are bad, particularly this sort. https://t.co/eG24COsLpM

£10 million sounds like a lot, but its a drop in the ocean.

Divided by the number of local authorities in the country, that's only about £30,000 per area. That'll pay for a few CCTV cameras and some other things. Not very much to get upset about.

Exactly. 10 million pounds across the entire country? That's a very low budget to try and protect targeted people from crimes of hatred. Way more has been spent on measures to protect us all from Islamic extremists, if that makes you feel better, OP. Just look at all the permanent road blocks on Waterloo Bridge (and elsewhere) to prevent vehicles from mounting pedestrian areas. UK has more CCTV than almost any country in the world.

Bringemout · 23/10/2025 16:42

I do think it’s reasonable to offer protection if required, theres no reason why a muslim shouldn’t expect to be able to go to worship in safety.

The misogny of Islam is on proud display everywhere. You’ve only got to see a couple walking side by side in the summer to see who wears the shorts and who is covered from head to toe. The misogny in Christianity is very much within the power structures of the institutions themselves and most mainstream Christians reject it. Hence why we now have a female ABC.

Meanwhile old churches, a legacy and a part of British heritage, are being allowed to moulder and be sold off. But let’s protect the burgeoning of ideologies that see women as second class citizens. Crime prevention bollocks.

Those churches that are owned by the Church of England who are the richest landowners in the uk ?

statistics 🙄

https://theconversation.com/religious-hate-crimes-in-england-and-wales-are-at-a-record-high-but-many-still-go-unreported-241071

Muslims make up 6% of the population and Jews make up 0.5% of the population yet Jews are on the receiving end of 33% of religious motivated hate crimes and muslims 38%.

Neither is ok but clearly if you are Jewish you are much more likely to experience a religiously motivated hate crime. I would also gently point out that not all Jews are white passing.

Don’t understand why you are upset about Jews more likely to be victimised than muslims, i suspect it’s not from a place of empathy.

Edited

I wasn't "upset" about Jews more likely to be victimised than Muslims, you're the one who made it a competition in a thread which was just about pouring hate on Muslims.

From your report:
Not only are the latest statistics in the UK alarming, they are only the tip of the iceberg. As my work on the inquiry into Islamophobia in Scotland found, many incidents go unreported.
We found that many did not report incidents due to concerns about institutional racism in the police and a lack of confidence in policing and in the criminal justice system.

FYI, demographies that are well used to institutionalised racism from birth are known for not reporting incidents of racism.

Pointing out that the biggest victims of religiously motivated hate crime in the UK are Jews is not pouring hate on anyone. If anything one should feel horrified that such a tiny minority receives such a disproportionate amount of hatred.

This isn't 'putting Muslims on a pedestal' for goodness sake. It is horrible to see this sort of anti-Muslim sentiment creeping into the Feminism section of MN. I guess it reflects the fact that right-wing disinformation currents have seized on a couple of women's rights/safety issues as one of the many arenas they are using to promote their divisive bullshit.

I'm also sick of alleged feminists attempting to force-team the gender-critical position with support for Israel's war in Gaza.

No force teaming here. I stand with Israel. I doubt that Gaza has much time for men cosplaying as women, though.

Sigmamood · 23/10/2025 17:28

Friends of mine were trapped in a Hindu mandir (temple) a few years ago while crowds of Muslim men protested outside as they objected to one of their speakers, this took place in Smethwick.
utterly terrifying and I hope the mandir applied for security funding if it was available at the time.

ScoldsBridal · 23/10/2025 17:28

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 23/10/2025 15:28

Pretty clear that MN and its feminism forum are being targeted to foment hate

Pity this isn't pinned at the top of the thread save us all a job reading a load of thick as mince racist old bollocks.

Exactly this. Reported.

The problem being of course, religion. And people using it for their own demented motivations.

If it’s anything like other Muslim countries, it prefers gay men pretending to be women, because then the gay has been transed away and they don’t have a gay man anymore. They have a woman. No problemo.

They’re nuns. Not your average woman, they devote their life to god; that’s their job.

Do you go to church every week? The church I grew up in will "moulder" after the last of the octogenarian congregation die. There have been so many attempts to bring in younger families, but there has been no interest. This is the case with the vast majority of them that have been put on the market. Those who cry about churches being part of our history and legacy need to be the first bums on the pews.

As always, any criticism of Islam is responded to with an attack on Christianity. As if a Catholic nun wearing a headscarf is in anyway similar or the oppression of women in Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Syria, UAE, etc under Islamic rule.

Whilst at the same time other churches are growing.

Possibly a result of the Anglican church’s focus on fitting in with modern woke culture rather than focusing on faith.

You do realize that what the Quran, Torah and Bible say about women is largely the same? Well actually, the Quran speaks more favourably about women out of the three!

Church attendance has fallen over time, and each census less and less people identify as Christian. That's great the Anglican church is growing, but it's not the case for many denominations, who need to sell up.

The difference is they're often vandalised for the same reason many low security publically accessible buildings (that have periods of being unoccupied) are vandalised...The article itself focuses predominantly on lead theft.

The vandalism that many mosques are subjected to is racially motivated. Which in terms of public safety, is a serious concern with much wider implications.

That isn't to say that both don't need addressing as they do. But as the government keeps reminding us, with limited funds, they have to prioritise somehow. Which would you prioritise with public safety in mind?

As this is the feminist board, I'm assuming we're being invited to discuss religion from a feminist perspective? What benefit to you see in restricting the discussion to one religion? And could you explain the difference between 'criticism' and 'attack'? And why you think the first applies to the comments about Islam and the second to comments about Christianity?

If that were true, then why are women living imprisoned in their homes under the thumb of brutal men in most Islamic countries? If it is not Islam that demands it then where are the Muslims marching for the women of Afghanistan? The Imams condemning the slaughter of Yazidis or the taking them as sex slaves (as allowed by the Quran)? Where are the Muslims speaking out against Sharia Law that treats a woman’s voice as less than a man’s? Or telling Muslim men that if the are so lacking in self control that then can’t manage to look at a woman in a short skirt without wishing to sexually assault her then they should lock themselves up at home instead?

Who said they are living according to what the Quran said? It's like someone saying a British man heading a paedophile ring proves Christianity is promoting paedophilia.
