Meanwhile there are SO MANY other areas of the country that are desperate for a financial boost….Why is this one religion put on a pedestal? This particular religion that doesn’t treat women as equals.

This. We've been here for years BECAUSE we don't do forced teaming of issues. A single issue board was created on that basis. Absolutely no place for anti-Muslim sentiment on it.

Also agree that this is a tiny amount of money per police force: a CCTV camera or two per mosque. And I have seen Muslims just trying to go about their day be aggressively harassed more often this last year than ever in my life before- having grown up in a town with a large Bangadeshi population. Hmm, if a crime was committed against me I have very little faith it would be dealt with properly by the police, and the healthcare I've had from the NHS has been poor. Happy to say my son goes to a good state school, although I did homeschool him along with the rest of the country during covid.
Did you think I said non-existent public services or something? I said we should pay for things ourselves if we are able to. So no, I'm not paying for a private police force and a personal hospital. I do have health insurance though.

Majority of Mosques in UK are not just places of worship but key community centres with strong links to the wider local community. But I'm sure you're not actually interested in the wider work many of them do.

"Pay for things themselves" is the exact kind of attitude that has allowed the CoE Church to use a law that dates back to the time of Henry VIII to take people to court to pay for their church repairs.

I'd much rather a few quid a year of my tax money goes to this kind of stuff (and definitely the cheaper option compared to the insurance policy against chancel repair liability I've had to fork out for!)

If things need doing, we should do them, regardless of the optics around "timing". This will save money in the long run, so the sooner it's done the better

The Religion you are talking about treats women very well. Some men may not, as with men from every other religion and none.

If there is a need for people to be protected, then that is what should happen. Why are y you more worried about the fact that attacks are happing and the need for security has increased in the first place. If we get rid of racist scum, this won’t be an issue.

The Government spends money on security, protecting synagogues, as they have for years. I have seen no thread complaining about that. Nor should there be, or any threads now, complaining about this!

You're not comparing like with like. If Christians actively worshipped in them, churches wouldn't be mouldering. Mosques are full of Muslims worshipping.

Muslims make up 6% of the population and Jews make up 0.5% of the population yet Jews are on the receiving end of 33% of religious motivated hate crimes and muslims 38%.

Neither is ok but clearly if you are Jewish you are much more likely to experience a religiously motivated hate crime. I would also gently point out that not all Jews are white passing.

Don’t understand why you are upset about Jews more likely to be victimised than muslims, i suspect it’s not from a place of empathy.
