Sturgeon accuses JK of toxic trans debate

The world has probably had enough of sturgeon to last a lifetime but today’s ‘revelation’ from her shite book is just infuriating.

A long catalogue of poor me, I’m pure of spirit, any criticism is toxic, everyone else is malevolent.

Despite calling people who don’t agree with her idiotic bill racists, homophobes and misogynists, here she says JK’s teeshirt didn’t elevate the debate or illuminate the issues.

And then goes on to say that this issue wasn’t really that important to mainstream voters but we are all guilty of hysteria.

And she wishes she had the courage to call a rapist female.

For someone allegedly politically astute this book is a very stupid strategy. Slow hand clap.

Fuck off Sturgeon.

I am so angry with this woman. I'm going to not comment further.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

TheKeatingFive · 12/08/2025 08:38

What absolute pond scum this woman is

lechiffre55 · 12/08/2025 08:39

She is clearly a narcissist in love with her saintly self. As a commentator above said probably best not to say fully what I really think of her.
Did she title the book Mein Kampfervan?

VaddaABeetch · 12/08/2025 08:39

When you hit rock bottom keeping snacking at the bed rock. Great use of your energy

FuriousAndFrustrated · 12/08/2025 08:41

“It resulted in more abuse, of a much more vile nature, than I had ever encountered before.

It made me feel less safe and more at risk of possible physical harm."

And I bet it wasn't a fraction anywhere near the abuse/threats JKR has faced for speaking out about this!

RedToothBrush · 12/08/2025 08:42

JKRowling put the perfect response on twitter

We've lost all sense of rationality in [the gender] debate,' said Nicola Sturgeon.

Only one side has lost rationality.
Only one side pretends there's more than two sexes.
Only one side lets male rapists into women's prisons.
Only one side supports child sterilisation.

Yours.

Sturgeon is pissed with Rowling, because if Rowling hadn't spoken up, there wouldn't have been a conversation and Sturgeon would have been able to railroad everyone and possibly wouldn't have been quite so publicly humiliated for her lack of judgement.

So it's just Sturgeon with a personal chip on her shoulder about Rowling, and wanting to punish Rowling for ruining her career.

It is the very height of vindictiveness.

She's upset she's being forced to confront her own error and doesn't want to apologise and say she got it wrong even now.

Awful woman.

BunfightBetty · 12/08/2025 08:47

💯

It’s always seemed to me that the hallmark trait of Sturgeon’s personality is rigid intransigence, an utter inability to think flexibly, take in new information and adjust her thinking and approach accordingly. She seems to mistake stubbornness for strength and steadfastness. Even here, where she is supposedly reflecting, her ego is too fragile to allow her to truly admit to herself and others what she’s done.

She’s the architect of her own downfall through her own hubris. But still blames JKR.

What a fanny.

Agree with the above. She's very cranky.

Indeed one could almost say a wee cranky

RedToothBrush · 12/08/2025 08:53

The point here is Sturgeon wouldn't allow a debate.

She got a debate because one was needed. She hates that.

If she got abuse, she needs to reflect on how much of that was down to so many members of the public were angry at not being allowed to speak on the subject and her attempts to actively silence them.

That's not JKRowling's doing. Indeed JKRowling eventually spoke up because of how much public anger there was. She listened when politicians who are supposed to listen did not.

A member of parliament is there to serve the public and to listen to the public, not decide the public are wrong and veto them.

Sturgeon had developed a little Napoleon complex. That is ultimately the problem here.

RedToothBrush · 12/08/2025 08:57

I how several national news columnists write saying exactly this.

She'll hate it. And I have absolutely zero sympathy for her.

Even now she can't even bring herself to say 'rapists should not be allowed to change gender'. Nope she still fucked it and said 'rapists probably shouldn't be allowed to change gender'.

She's been dragged kicking and screaming to that position and she's still trying to be defiant and refuse to admit she was wrong.

How hard is it to say 'Im sorry, I really messed up and got this wrong because I failed to listen when I should have because I thought I knew better and that was arrogant and unprofessional of me in my role as a representative of the public'?

Tiredofwhataboutery · 12/08/2025 09:01

I agree with a PP that Rowling enabled the debate by speaking up. She was too big (and too rich) to cancel and the campaign of vilify anyone who spoke up failed against her. She provided an umbrella of cover for those of us who agreed but were worried about consequences.

I am amazed at the lack of critical thinking, the abstract concerns of putting a male rapist into a female prison suddenly became reality and the story went nuclear. The Scottish prison service should of warned me. Surely you created the law and enacted it so it shouldn’t of been a shocker when they complied?

Screamingabdabz · 12/08/2025 09:02

She’s edging her bets. She knows she’ll end up doing the Jungle and if she stays with the LGBTQ+ she won’t have to nosh down quite so many kangaroo testicles.

Peabowl · 12/08/2025 09:02

Oh, I've misheard everything. I thought when Sturgeon said we'd lost rationality and she wished she'd been braver, that she meant she/the party lost rationality and that she wished she'd called the rapist a man.

Obviously I wasn't paying proper attention, but isn't that the only rational reaction?

RedToothBrush · 12/08/2025 09:06

The funny thing is we see the same thing on here and it's happening more often.

You have a poster who is arguing the toss and then a belter of a post goes up and they have literally no response. They know they are wrong and they know we know they've realised that.

They either suddenly flounce or disappear quietly (to return to the conversation when there's less difficult questions to respond to) or they double or triple down in ever increasing ridiculousness and it's obviously ridiculous and they know it's ridiculous but they just can't help themselves.

Anything but admit, 'oh actually I hadn't thought of that'.

It's striking because normally in political arguments you don't get that with the opposite entrenched position. You post to make the point with the silence reader.

They then tend to go on the attack personally or get angry - like Sturgeon, because they know they've run out of road and have nothing left.

I have found it an interesting observation. One that has perhaps started to really hit in the last month or two.

anyolddinosaur · 12/08/2025 09:06

Not going to click on newspaper reports, must better to ignore, Thankfully she's now irrelevant. JKR is not, of course - which will infuriate Nicola.

mrshoho · 12/08/2025 09:06

She's revealed her true self alright. Really despicable and shows she is still not prepared to try and understand the real harms to women and children. For her to say the issue was not important to mainstream voters just shows she still does not understand. We have so much to thank JKR for.

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 12/08/2025 09:09

What an absolutely vile woman she is, rolling out the tired old TRA trope of not feeling ‘safe’, when what she actually means is that she was raging that anyone dared to stand up to her and challenge this insidious ideology. She conveniently ignores all the rape and death threats JKR receives as a result of Sturgeon’s actions, and is trying to ramp up the rhetoric even further by mentioning her again in this ridiculous book of fantasy. She’s not worried about other women’s safety is she?

There’s only one woman who is going to come out of this with respect and it isn’t Sturgeon.

SHE didn't feel safe?? How did she think the women prisoners who had men foisted on them as part of sturgeons ideology felt??
