Sturgeon accuses JK of toxic trans debate

The world has probably had enough of sturgeon to last a lifetime but today’s ‘revelation’ from her shite book is just infuriating.

A long catalogue of poor me, I’m pure of spirit, any criticism is toxic, everyone else is malevolent.

Despite calling people who don’t agree with her idiotic bill racists, homophobes and misogynists, here she says JK’s teeshirt didn’t elevate the debate or illuminate the issues.

And then goes on to say that this issue wasn’t really that important to mainstream voters but we are all guilty of hysteria.

And she wishes she had the courage to call a rapist female.

For someone allegedly politically astute this book is a very stupid strategy. Slow hand clap.

A cynical and rather overly paranoid commentator in 2125 might note that Sturgeons actions single handedly ended the momentum for Scottish independence for "a generation*", and that might not be accidental.

*no quite sure why I say that ?

RoyalCorgi · 12/08/2025 10:56

So she's accusing JKR and others of creating a toxic debate, but 'she stands by her incendiary claims that, while some critics of self-ID have legitimate concerns, others are racists, homophobes and misogynists. Sturgeon also calls on her opponents to admit they are “standing alongside” figures such as Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orbán on the trans debate.'

She really does take the biscuit.

NeverOneBiscuit · 12/08/2025 10:59

I see the tone police turned up pretty quickly on this thread. Female socialisation, not saying Fuck Off out of our female spaces earlier, was partly what allowed the TRAs NoDebate to take hold.

The tone police need to look at the FWR threads. Smart, well informed rational women making cogent arguments grounded in reality & fact. Look at the opposing side, it’s pitiful.

Men can be angry and feel unsafe if they’re correctly sexed as he or him. It’s ‘literal violence’ But an angry woman swearing on MN, tut tut.

RedToothBrush · 12/08/2025 11:04

I propose an 18th Rule of Misogyny.

Woman should be polite at all times. Women swearing shows up their lack of intelligence, rationality and reason. Men swearing, threatening and being abusive is just because they have been hard done by and it's deserved.

I wonder if there is any rationale in her head for the racism claim? It feels like mudslinging. (Not that the homophobia and misogyny claims bear any scrutiny either.)

I think she genuinely thought she was marching along with a progressive Europe. Self ID has been introduced in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland.

I do wonder if it hadn’t of been for JK Rowling and Isla Bryson whether it would of all gone differently and Sturgeon would be smug and victorious and the U.K. would of joined that list.

Yea but Ireland had a child sex offender in the Womens prison with in 3 years of the GRA (so 1 of 300ish who had a GRC)
And then had the man who went to the Irish High Court to prove wanting to stab his mother to death and rape her as she died did not make him (legally) crazy.

JkR gets pulled in for headlined but there were a lot of politically active women working local with their elected reps. And IB not the first male just one of a number of males who should not have been in the Womens prisiona to begin with

Sturgeon writes that the case gave her critics a “monster” who “brought vividly to life” what until then had been “abstract” concerns. The story then “went nuclear” and left her “fighting a fire that was already out of control”, Sturgeon said.

Officials in the Scottish government or Scottish Prison Service had failed to notify her about the case in advance, Sturgeon reveals, which to this day she says she does not understand.

The Prision Service did not send out a special notice because it was a normal per policy work day.

Is/has anyone actually going to buy her book or watch interviews?

she is history ...move on

@RoyalCorgi “Sturgeon also calls on her opponents to admit they are “standing alongside” figures such as Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orbán on the trans debate”

It like a throwback to another age, this rhetoric. I mean yes, you can say to people “Trump thinks what you think” – but you really ought to consider that they might draw an entirely different conclusion from the one you’re intending.

NeverOneBiscuit · 12/08/2025 11:18

A male doctor dressing as a woman leaves the female locker room, having been asked to leave by a female nurse, who correctly pointed out he was a man.

He went around the hospital to find someone to witness his tears, & luckily found a willing handmaiden. She accompanied the doctor to his car, as he was so upset he had to go home.

The handmaiden then informed nearly 20 staff members of the terrible thing done to poor Dr Upton, & condemned the nurse before even speaking to her.

Can the nurse be angry? No, she’s a terrible bigot using hurty words. Can anybody following the ET that ensued be angry? No, because Dr Upton had his feelings hurt by a woman who effectively used Kelly Jay’s words ‘HE’S A MAN’

He is a man, in a woman’s space because he chose to go there. So Fuck Off is also an appropriate response here.

The Scottish Prison Service would hardly notify her that the law was working as expected (unless they wanted accusations of bigotry). I understand NS got her party to vote down proposed amendments to her bill, which amendments would have disallowed sex offenders like IB from changing their gender. She got what she whipped her party to get. FAFO Nicola.

I think it goes like this; “some of the people who agree with you on this issue are racists, therefore you must also be a racist.”

Starting to wonder if perhaps she’s just not very bright.

I’m not a fan of Donald ‘grab em by the pussy’ Trump but facts are chiels that winnae ding. If he said the earth was round I wouldn’t go and join the flat earthers.

Surely we should all be capable of a bit of critical thinking as to whether folk are spouting shite. Even if every awful despot/ dictator declares people can’t change sex it doesn’t make it less true. If Orban said people need air to breathe you wouldn’t go sit in a corner with a bag over your head.

Not a fan of this post- fact world we seem to be living on.

Especially when money is a little tight for many of us and we might have to choose between spending this month's book budget on a toe-curling political memoir or a new Strike novel.

N Sturgeon's book, Frankly, v The Hallmarked Man, the latest Strike book (out 2/9). I wonder how the sales will compare 😁😁😁

I agree with JK but I do think the debate is toxic and that the gc side hasn’t resisted the urge to gloat.

'Gloating'

That's a new one.

No swearing. No 'gloating'. Anything else?

Hedjwitch · 12/08/2025 11:50

Have to say I am enjoying the downfall of Sturgeon immensely. Some of my friends were so pro-Nicola it actually put a strain on our friendship as they would not listen to a word against her. I was one of many " women who wouldn't wheesht" and JK Rowling gave us the courage to fight to hold on to our hard won rights. She brings shame to Scotland and anyone who voted for her should be hiding very quietly under their rock right now.

Sturgeon probably saw “Kamala Harris is for They/Them” and thought it was a great political advert … for Kamala.

I'm confident she's been willing to perform the same exercise with her own side and their fellow travellers in the Iranian regime.

childofthe607080s · 12/08/2025 12:04

At least the GC side managed to avoid physically harming anybody , managed to avoid making violent threats , managed to avoid telling people to shut up …. But we mustn’t smile about the rebalance cos that would be a sin

Ooh, that’s a brilliant point. That ‘the future of the left is islam’ thing that Houellebecq identified is looking like some prophecy nowadays.

I call on Sturgeon to admit that she is standing with misogynists, homophobes and racists. Violent misogynists.

Gloating?

Being immensely relieved that the existing law was clarified, that men should never have been in female only spaces?

That puberty blockers were banned for under 16s.

That GIDS at the Tavistock was closed due to huge safeguarding concerns.

That Mermaids & Stonewall have been exposed.

Not gloating, just very proud of all the people that worked to help sanity return, and relieved. But if I wanted to gloat I’d do that too. Let’s face it, men dressed as women have been doing that for years, as they post selfies in women’s spaces.
