Sturgeon accuses JK of toxic trans debate

The world has probably had enough of sturgeon to last a lifetime but today’s ‘revelation’ from her shite book is just infuriating.

A long catalogue of poor me, I’m pure of spirit, any criticism is toxic, everyone else is malevolent.

Despite calling people who don’t agree with her idiotic bill racists, homophobes and misogynists, here she says JK’s teeshirt didn’t elevate the debate or illuminate the issues.

And then goes on to say that this issue wasn’t really that important to mainstream voters but we are all guilty of hysteria.

And she wishes she had the courage to call a rapist female.

For someone allegedly politically astute this book is a very stupid strategy. Slow hand clap.

How much are Warner Bros. paying for Sturgeons book rights ?

I wish I had the courage to call a rapist female
The arrogance that's needed to say that never mind effectively write it in a book is astonishing. In one fell swoop she dismisses the distress and violation that anyone - women, girls, boys and men - who's been the victim of sexual assault and/or rape.
But I'm sure she won't be pulled up on it by any journalist.

I agree. It’s jaw dropping.

She is clearly a narcissist in love with her saintly self. As a commentator above said probably best not to say fully what I really think of her.
Did she title the book Mein Kampfervan?

😂

She is right that the debate has become toxic and emotive on both sides. And many of the "fuck off" responses above have just proved the point.

People who feel abandoned by politicians have every right to say fuck off. Its an expression of anger and frustration at someone failing to do their job and not listening to the public. Its part of the process of accountability. Its part of free speech.

The problem is if they take it further than that and issue threats.

Don't try and suggest anyone here is out of line. They are not.

Iwasphotoframed · 12/08/2025 09:59

She failed spectacularly, she is incredibly weak because failure is actually useful for growth but you have to be self reflective which she doesn’t have the capacity for. Blaming others gets you no where.

MarieDeGournay · 12/08/2025 10:00

Her PR team? PR person? the voice inside her head? are doing a crap job. The only way back in cases like this is owning up, talking about learning blah blah - yes we all know it's probably insincere but it's a public acknowledgment that you've been a complete arse. . A bit of humility, even if it is faux-humility, is an essential step in restoring a half-decent public image

It's also a good idea to lose the buzzwords like 'toxic' 'safe' etc which are key vocabulary in the enterprise which got you into this mess in the first place.

WhatterySquash · 12/08/2025 10:03

She’s coming across as either incredibly thick, or as a PP said, compromised in some way. To genuinely not be able to see that male criminals like Isla Bryson used gender ideology and self-ID to their own advantage, playing the criminal justice system like violins and that that is an obvious natural outcome of putting “you are what you say you are” into actual government and institutional policy 🤦🏻‍♀️ I means surely nobody in NS’s position can be that dumb.

Likewise to not be able to see that this endangers women and that women fighting for their own rights and categories back is entirely reasonable. The “toxic” behaviour in the debate is easy to see, often extreme, threatening and disgusting and it’s not on JKR’s side.

I wonder if she’s be up for an MN web chat to answer some calm, cogent questions…

People can say "fuck off" all they want but it just further validates the point that it is not possible to hold any sort of rational debate on this topic. I'm not agreeing with Sturgeon's view on genderbut I do think she is right that it is no longer possible to discuss in a rational manner.

This is by no means the only topic where this is the case.

I still cannot understand why she hitched herself to the trans debacle so strongly and refused to let go.

I keep wondering, did somebody, somewhere promise her big rewards to do so?

It feels as if there must be a personal connection somewhere in all this. It's painful to see her making an absolute arse of herself.

Well one side is acting rationally. The side that consistently says:

-humans cannot change sex
-single sex spaces are needed, especially in prison of all places
-safeguarding is important
-laws should be reality-based

The other side responds with:

-No Debate!
-I can't possibly say whether an individual with a visible penis, convicted of the crime of rape is male or not, and it's unfair to ask me
-the worst thing about a rapist in a women's prison is that it makes other trans identifying men look bad, and me look incompetent
-even after my government was taken to court and told we're wrong, we're definitely right

I say Fuck Off to that.

Ah so we are supposed to tone police and not be angry.

I get it.

Women are not allowed to be angry about a scandal because it's unbecoming and people might think they are angry and actually start to take notice.

Newsflash: If women don't get angry they get ignored because no one takes it seriously. They just get brushed off.

When women get angry people tend to go 'huh What's going on, what's the problem, because women have been so conditioned to be polite.

I'm all for women saying 'fuck off' more often.

No one EVER criticises men for it.

How can anyone have a rational discussion with a woman who claims to be a defender of women and girls rights ...

Yet stood over male rapists in women's prisons and wishes she had the 'courage' to call male rapists 'she'?

Serious question. That is gaslighting of the highest order and I don't know how you expect us to engage sensibly with it.

RedToothBrush · 12/08/2025 10:17

Noting that its a user all Aaron telling use we can't say fuck off because it's unbecoming.

If the poster could clarify the exact tone we're permitted to use when raising the point that we object to male rapists in women's jails, that would be much appreciated.

WinterTrees · 12/08/2025 10:18

The abundance of intelligent, informed, articulate and well-evidenced posts on FWR, often in response to TRA arguments, demonstrates that it absolutely is possible to have a rational debate on this topic.

With Sturgeon it feels like the time for debate is over. Her part in this chapter is now a matter of historical record, which she's seeking to revise, or cast in a different light. 'Fuck off' is an appropriate response to that.

Way back when, women tried the calm and reasonable debate. Look where that got us. How close we came to losing our rights. Fuck off is justified here and JKR with her no fucks to give was absolutely right.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/08/2025 10:21

Let’s hope the book ends up largely remaindered. TBH I can’t imagine many people shelling out whatever it is for (presumably) a hardback.

Boiledbeetle · 12/08/2025 10:22

Sturgeon writes that the case gave her critics a “monster” who “brought vividly to life” what until then had been “abstract” concerns. The story then “went nuclear” and left her “fighting a fire that was already out of control”, Sturgeon said.

Only in Nicola's head was it an abstract concern. How many times did women try to tell her this was already playing out in prisons, but so hell bent was she on making her mark in history that she just stuck her head further up her own arse whilst she pretended all was fine.

You did it to yourself Nicola. No one else's help was needed in making you look a complete idiot.

WhichPage · 12/08/2025 10:24

Well …. she knows the quickest way to max publicity for her book is to mention JKR

I'm looking forward to seeing her book in The Works, alongside 'Didley Squat: A Year on the Farm' by Jeremy Clarkson.

I’m looking forward to seeing it in the ‘please take this crap for free’ bin, where it belongs.

The nonsense that gender ideology forces people to come out with.

Has she no self respect?

It truly makes abject fools of them all.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 12/08/2025 10:27

I've had enough of Nicola Sturgeon and her dick pandering tbh.

ScrollingLeaves · 12/08/2025 10:28

I was willing to wish her a happy new life in London, then heard her digging in and turned the radio off.

It feels as if there must be a personal connection somewhere in all this. It's painful to see her making an absolute arse of herself.

I don’t think so, I think she’s just an actual, genuine true believer in her team, which is progressivism. She will do anything for it, no matter what it requires of her.

It’s really hard to get your head around if you’re someone who believes in things, but this someone who believes only in winning.

The phrasing of her ‘rapists probably forfeit the right to choose their gender’ quote is incredibly revealing in this respect, as was noted above – this is someone who’s detached herself even from the metaphysics of it. The bit about being naturally trans is missing, and instead it’s purely about personal choice. Only with extreme reluctance will she—the person supposedly in charge of social control—contemplate that her team might not be entitled to get everything they want.
